Julia you are getting better every minute, I can't stop listening to Dua Lipa's cover every day since I heard yours haha! You should add affiliate marketing links to your videos descriptions, you could make quite a few extra dollars on the side just by recommending the gear you use such as bass guitars, headphones, pedals, amps, laptop, recording devices, etc, etc.

at 2:18-ish, Julia does a killer triplet run as she looks out into space, finishes, and her eyebrow do a flick, as if she’s thinking, “whoa, that was sweet!” to herself. Made me laugh. ..and, yes, it was a pretty sweet riff, ma’am.

I am 59 yo and I've playing bass (not professionally) since 1982. For all these years I've played and listened to a whole lot of music, always focusing on the bass part, as it is my main instrument and a lifetime passion. But I've never heard such mixture of sheer talent, incredible groove, tremendous bass technique...above all coming from a 20 years old girl. Keep on spreading the funk, Julia. Chapeau. P.S.: Adrian is killing it too, outstanding drummer!!

Julia, in France we'd be saying "you're still holding the horses on this"... I think because of two things. 1/ You play a little behind. Very sligthly... Very very sligthly. Like 1/64th or 1/128th. You have to play in front, not behind. Maybe that's the internet lag between you two that makes this. You're also in a listening attitude (which is the good attitude, for a bassist), but your listening + show off attitude (like Joe Dart or Mono Neon or other great bassists) have to be worked live in a band. There is no way around to work that. 2/ In a band, don't be like a juggler paralysed by seeing trapezist skill. That's my #1 flaw, as a musician. I listen too much the other, I'm in a reaction attitude 80% / action attittude 20%. It should be more balanced. The trapezist have the same reason as yourself to be paralysed. Here is something special there : the bass have this confort that the drum have not. They can choose to be in a 100% reaction. The drum can't. Like a trappezist, if they watch the juggler too much, they fall. Like the juggler, the bassist have 3 things to think of (at least) at the same time. 2 of these things are in common with the rythm section, and 2 of these things are in comon with the harmonic section. If the bass set himself in reaction 100%, he disappears, and while this is a legit position as a bassist, you're way too talented to disappear. You have to talk "with authority", but some times only. Knowing when to use authority and when to disappear is something to understand as a bassist. In a band, 1+1 = 3, here, you made 1+1 = 2.7 which is fantastic already, because a lot of young bands makes 0.5 + 0.5 = 0.5 :) ! If you learn bass in conservatory, show this to your teacher, s/he would congratulate you both and then as a pro musician, point the minor problematic stuff.

Julia you badass, if there was a love button I woulda slapped it right away. It's very clear that you are playing this only for yourself and not to impress anyone. There are already a ton of people trying to impress everyone. But you only impress yourself. One of the many reasons that I love what you do is, you leave some mystery about who you are. And thats very precious. Don't you ever give that away, my precious.
