Some people are just not mechanically inclined, they are great with electronics, but mechanical things are a completely different mindset. Older mechanics are the guys that excel fixing these turntables.

I owned a beautiful example of one of these with all three original boxes. Bought it because I was simply curious about rim drive tables. Dustcover was still in original wrap. I did have to replace rubber parts like the idler and the ubiquitous steuerpimpel on the arm plus remove dried up grease. Fine tuning these tables is sort of an art and and while I'm mechanically inclined and got it working well, I felt more could be extracted. So on a trip to Des Moines I planned a visit to Bill and left it with him after going over all I had done. He was the final puzzle to maximize performance out of it. Tweaking it , things like how changing the force of the idler to the rim to tune out the rumble(you can never fully get that out of rim drive tables). It was a great table but the rumble is an issue with any rim drive. I got a good price for it. The cleanest that you'll ever see. Too bad I can't put up photos.

Glad the video was helpful. There are lots of options for a cartridge. I think Audio Technica carts are probably the best value...just depends on your budget.

Dual turntables are definitely not my thing…

Fig.11 Fig.13 Fig.14 in the service manual. These measurements are crucial. And a pain in the arse to get dialed in. But I would bet that’s all this needs.

Yes they are. I'm no longer working on Dual turntables...fixmydual.com is where I direct folks that need repairs. Too time consuming for me with everything else I've got in the queue.

Plugged mine in and, nothing. No noise, no movement, nothing. Any ideas?

Unfortunately there are any number of things that could be the issue.

Stuck motor - Take it apart and lube the bearings on both ends to free it up.

My 1219 , the cam is very stiff to turn. That has to be an issue as the arm needs to kick the cam to start the shut down sequence. Cam pivot looks very buried!

Yeah...these are layers and layers of fun disassembly to perform decent maintenance.

@@millervintagehifi3034 Loosened cam, very free now. Little by little you figure it out. I am impressed someone designed and built it, mechanical logic.

Yes, now is the time to get this machine in proper working order and then you can cash it in for a easy $1000. The madness that the vinyl world is in right now. These are fantastic machines but I’m not sure they are worth what people are paying for them.

We've had a 1219 on the floor for $200 for about six months...it just sits there. Pioneer, Marantz, and Denon tables move pretty quickly. Duals? Not so much...
