As an additional note on Lusat's, I'm not saying Lusat's is trash or unusable. I'm just trying to address Lusat being used as a way too general case of "best staff" when in fact it is quite a poor staff earlier on in the game or later into the game when PoD can just replace it for PVE. Just keep in mind the extra FP cost when optimizing because the similar arguments can also applied in PVP. If you have to drink FP pots more often, better players will punish you for it. Of course, if you're fighting someone that just strolls around letting you drink pots safely at a distance then it wouldn't matter, but more drinking = more openings. Generally, for RL125 PVP, I almost never use a Lusat's while it is very possible to optimize while using a Lusat's for RL150 PVP (because the extra points makes it way easier to get enough stat spread). Also, if the majority of your gameplay leans towards using low FP cost spells like Carian Slicer, Lusat's will benefit you. Likewise, if you use plenty of low MV spells, Lusat's will also benefit you more than 10% as shown in the video.

No way. For pvp Lusats is always king. I have 200 hours of mage play in pvp at sl125. Nothing is better not even close. The extra damage is well worth the extra fp used on a pure caster. You have to a of fp and tons of flasks. For pvp Lusats is always best main hand casting staff if you have 80 int

Would this build be any good at level 50 for co op build? I would want to be able to beat the game but mostly help others co op in lower level areas (pvp and bosses). Weapon level would be +4 to 5 somber or +8 to 10 regular.

First off, we greatly appreciate these in-depth analysis videos, no one comes close right now. I watched the whole video and I think I have a better understanding of the topic except for the most basic part: casting mainhand vs offhand. Do the bonuses never apply when dual wielding casting instruments if you cast with the offhand? I thought it just used the scaling of whatever you casted with period, but I'm not sure anymore.

It depends on the staff. You can have 2x Carian Glintstone Staff both upgraded to +25 then it wouldn't matter. But for staves like Carian Regal + Glintstone staff, you NEED to cast with Carian Regal to use Carian Regal's sorcery scaling (because it is higher). If you cast with the Carian Glintstone Staff, you would essentially have only held 1 staff. Back to the Carian Glintstone x2 example. If you always only cast with one staff, you don't need to upgrade both to +25 since you can just keep casting with that 1 staff you upgraded to +25 (higher sorcery scaling).

I figured it was said for the sake of the spread sheet, or maybe there was a glitch I wasnt aware of, since I knew there were some issues with offhand seals for some incantations in 1.03. Great video. I learned a lot... Again. I ended using Meteorite staff until I had enough int to use Carian Regal staff and instantly upgraded it to +8. I didn't want to waste somber stones on a staff that I would replace. Thankfully I found the Staff of Loss and night comet in Sellia right after I picked up Meteorite so I have been rocking Meteorite and Loss since early game. It took me a while to find where to get night shard though.

Lmao I have always been a Lusat's detractor, but was never sure if I just wasn't using it right. Every time I equipped it I felt the damage increase wasn't impactful enough and my FP just disappeared, to which I thought "maybe I need more mind", but after respecs I started to hurt for the endurance for both poise and chain-casting. The next bit can be considered negative comments but try to look at it as (unsolicited) constructive criticism. I feel like this was a more prevalent comment in your earlier videos, but at times you can come off as monotone. Question about Azures, I'm a cast speed freak, and from what I can tell, Azures staff will give v Dex in the offhand even without meeting the int req. Is this not true? Does the vdex only apply if it's actually the primary cast? I couldn't help but notice you don't mention this possible use case for Azures, which is how I am using it currently. I'm a pvp hybrid faith/int pure caster 125 cap and I have no points to spare to level Dex or STR. Is my build viable? Is gelmir staff worth the farm or does prince like f death outperform it even at 37 int/46 faith because all my sorceries are death? (Well not really, I use ancient death rancor and adulas moonblade) Love your work, response would be appreciated

Azur's gives you cast speed even in your offhand without meeting int requirements. My Azur's column is for deciding whether you want to Azur's mainhand + another bonus for off-hand. It is very possible to just run Carian Regal mainhand + Azur's offhand, but that would require no math here. It's just, do you want the cast speed or the damage boost! Therefore, your build will do just fine :)

This is true. I'll address Lusat's optimization in PVP maybe in a future video (although I'd say it's still inferior for RL125 PVP at optimized levels (since you need enough int to backload this staff before it actually beats the frontloaded ones, meaning you either lack vigor or endurance). Plenty usable in RL150 because of so many extra points in mind)

Like if you do enough with 221 fp (38 mind iirc) with regal and constantly find yourself with more fp than you need, lusat there is a advantage with using it especially if you use spells with smaller fp cost and lower motion values. I may be stupid and are not understanding something, but I feel with low low cost spells it could be useful (and it could be useful if you have a staff of x in offhand, letting you boost a cheap sorcery you spam with lusat)

Yes, if you're past the leveling phase and is more reliant on low FP spells, Lusat's will work just fine. I started my first glintstone staff video more for the competitive RL125 meta where Lusat's isn't great, and this is just me addressing some early game issues with Lusat's.

On my original playthrough I used a mage and tended to often favor the fastest of spells, so much so i swapped from regal to azur since they all were so low fp, and I feel like there might be a potential niche possibly for lusat like that. I never did duels as a mage, or any spells really, so I have never leveled mind since, but I feel it could potentially help with the less optimized invasion meta or ng pve. Im a little confused i have a small brain but so 2 diggers staff at 99 int is better than regal 1+1 but the build im going for is using lusats with cerulean hidden tear, so that means its even better than the yellow number right? So its still better than say lusats and stonediger?

Since this is very high level PVE (I'm guessing from 99 int) you should have enough mind for Lusat's without needing to sacrifice other stat points, so yes. Lusat's + Digger will be better.

I currently have a build that seems to work well for me in multiplayer where I have 45 vigor and 80 int but I'm running magic scorpion charm and Radagon's Soreseal (so 50 total vigor) and I'm extremely light on armor.. Would it be better to take off soreseal (perhaps replace it with Radagon's icon) , take 10 points from int and 5 points from vigor to keep my str, end, and dex the same? Or would it be better to keep the soreal and take 10 points out of int to pump my vigor up to 55 (totaling 60)? I'm not looking for exact numbers more just a rough idea of the damage to survivability ratios of each but to give more details for a more accurate rough estimate my stats (after equipment) and equipment are- Stats Level 125 Vigor 50 Mind 31 Endurance 14 Strength 16 Dexterity 18 Intelligence 80 Faith 7 Arcane 9 Equipment Navy hood Noble's traveling garb Spellblade's gloves Spellblade's trousers Left 1: Carian Regal Scepter Left 2: wing of Astel Right 1: death's poker (sometimes I use Darkmoon Greatsword instead) Right 2: moonveil Besides magic scorpion and Radagon's Soreseal the talismans I have tend to change based on the situation but I guess I'll say graven mass and shard of Alexander because I rely on both sorceries and ashes of war a decent bit

Without doing the hard math here, iirc Radagon's Soreseal is barely acceptable at RL125 (especially if you drink HP flask at all - I'm assuming not just duels). I would take that off 10 points in intelligence and 5 points in MIND, not vigor (80 int => 70 int and 31 mind => 26 mind). Since you're using Carian Regal Scepter, 26 mind is enough for a comfortable casting pool.

I'm not Chrightt, but I was struggling with this myself on optimizing my own build. I run both Radagon's and Marika's Soreseals on my RL150 build, and wanted to see if taking them off increased my effective health after swapping my stats around to keep hitting the breakpoints I wanted. Long story short: no, my effective health was about the same, give or take 100 effective health for certain damage types. But this can be different for you depending on how you reallocate your stats. If you want to drop your defense % numbers, I can do some quick back of the envelope math to tell you what you're working with, or you can do it yourself easily enough. Take your current HP and multiply it by 1.defense %. For example, if your defense % for physical damage is 5.072, you would multiply your health by 1.05072, and that number would be your effective health for withstanding purely physical attacks. If your defense % is negative, then you would multiply by (1 - 0.defense %), so if your physical defense was -5.072, you would multiply HP by 0.94928. In this case, your effective health for purely physical attacks would be *lower* than what the game is actually telling you.

It's because it is int/faith scaled and not pure int scaled. It will still pop up in the catalyst calculator and is one of the worst scaling staves.

Guys, does PoD + SoL at super high levels way worse, than double SoL for Night Magic? Night Shard and Night Comet my favorite spells, but i like to occasionally cast Dark Moon, sometimes Adullas Moonblade or even Rock Sling or carian Slicer

I have a question. Since I was playing in a melee mage with carian blade type spell and other megic scaling weapons. So I noticed that carian glidblade scale with dex too. As carian glidstone scale with str. I wound if I spree 30 in str and other 50 in int what outcome would change in this circumstances.

They don't scale to str/dex. You should recheck as you probably upgraded something else. All spells only scale to sorcery scaling and the staff itself scales to requirements already inputted in catalyst calc (which is datamined). They have str/dex requirements, but they do not scale sorcery rating.

I know I am late to the video, but it will help if anyone answer my question that dont we cast with left/offhand, what does it even mean when everyone says you only get bonus like in Lusat's when you cast with it!

Lusat's doesn't have a "bonus" effect that increases damage. Its "bonus effect" is making spells 50% more expensive. To trade for this bonus effect, the spell power of the staff is stronger than normal. And you only benefit from the additional spell power by casting a spell with it since the damage of the spell is determined by the catalyst it is casted with.

Kinda hard to wrap my brain around this but from what I understand it's better to dual wield the same staff at lower intelligence levels but better to switch to carian regal in the main hand at higher intelligence levels? also is azur staff worth using in pve with the fp drawback?

If you're not looking to dual wield staves, you're using the right one! If you're trying to dual wield staves, check for what spells you use most often and look for the staff that gives them the bonus!

Does anyone know if the sorcery scaling has any effect on duration or effected area? I only use sorcery for utility, like going invisible, so I want to be sure whether boosting int will help or not.

It does not have any effect on duration nor area. Some spells can be charged up to increase area (i.e. Freezing Mist)
