Sir this is the the problem of dual sense we all have at the moment is the little black piece in the housing of the module with the 2 plastic pieces it breaks i will include a link to see it is moving 😓😓😓😓

I've taken mine apart, and what makes it loose is one of the plastic rods that is connected to the button socket is broken off. I've had to send it in 3 times now, both sockets have had the same problem.

With all due respect to IFixIt (because this literally isn’t their fault) there is almost no point to this video right now. The issue most people have (including myself) is that the little black piece that houses the paddles breaks and there is currently no place to buy a replacement. Hopefully someone starts manufacturing them in a more sturdy material because I literally had my Edge for less than 10 months before this part broke. Yes, I could send back to Sony and wait 2 months or whatever to get a refurbished one back, but who’s to say the same part won’t break again in a few months without any changes to the quality of that part.

It will, I’m on my fourth and it broke again. The whole process takes about two weeks, but now I’m out of warranty.

i think you can drill a hole where the tab is broken, and insret a steel rod of same diameter that goes through the unit? on my calipper it messures 1,3mm

I have replaced this controller 4 times under warranty with Sony, back paddle housing broke again and now the website says my controller is no longer covered under warranty. The lug on the black magnetic housing broke (like everyone else) so I followed your video and I ended up super-gluing the lug and white plastic T piece back onto the black magnetic housing. I just got it put back together and it definitely still doesn’t feel right, but at least it’s not moving around anymore. Gonna play a COD match and see how it goes, I’m super disappointed that I can’t find any of these black housings as a replacement. Guess I’ll get a scuff…yay…

yo bois i may have a solution to your problem. not sure i can share links or pics through comments but just found this random post about putting the lever paddles in opposite sides(they will point down) but it solves the looseness issue. lmk if this helps anyone!

I thought perhaps the left and right back button slots (the ones that break on everyone) were able to be swapped. I'm a disabled gamer and can't use the right one so it's essentially new. However when I swapped it over there was no depress and spring back. They look similar but I guess just different enough to not be workable. It's a shame really.... the controller is not usable by me anymore

3:37 The inside housing is broken not the paddles itself..I time stamped the video at 3:37 just pause it look to the left of the tweezer tip and it’s the white T shaped plastic housing..Inside of that is a little peg that slides into it..That’s what snapped and is causing the back button to not be in the correct position.

I was able to fix my controller. You just need a dremel , drill and a small screw (you can use a ps4/5 screw)

I just opened my controller and my problem is not even the module, it is the MECHANICAL element at 3:43. The small pin on the side literally split from the rest of the element. If I cannot buy a spare part, I will need to send the damn controller back to Sony because they don't provide spare parts through customer support even if this is a 2023 product under warranty.

Reassembly seems to be incorrect the flat metal placement for what he refers to as the mechanical elements nose should sit under this spring in order to apply a resistive force and return to net zero input. Otherwise gravity would be the only force returning it to an open system. Which is my current issue I’ve gone through 4 controllers now all the same issue the back buttons stick and are either unresponsive completely or will deliver input occasionally. I wish they would have kept the back buttons the same as they did the ps4, a separate module which cost 20-40$ depending on date of release could be attached to any Sony ps4 brand controller and if it wore out you could by another module or replace the controller at 60 either way substantially less, I understand that this is “next generation” and supply chains are limited in comparison to product a decade old but at the same time releasing a product which embodies multiple features that have yet to be vetted and letting the consumer suffer the consequences in insane. Sorry I’ve been drinkin not gonna proof read but yeah something along those lines… words…. Peace 🕊️ stop war…
