First look at the new Dualtron 3 high performance electric scooter from Minimotors. I provide my impressions after putting on the first 100 miles.
The electric scooter industry is in its infancy. There are lots of choices out there (most are toys) but only a few are truly high performance...meaning speed, range, and a chassis that holds up. It appears that Dualtron is positioning themselves as a top contender in the performance electric scooter market.
Please post your comments and questions and I'll try and get back to you.

How to sitting it to make top speed of 100 km/h 75 mph ? I'm asking this because if you siting it from the screen it will make over 82 km/h 57 mph, So did I have to instal app for phone to sitting it or there is another way? And if you can siting it from phone then which app we should use? Sorry for the long message I just really need to know how to fix it. And I think that everyone wants to know this.

@shadowwolf5146
@shadowwolf5146 5 жыл бұрын
Hey! I had the same problem but managed to fixed it. When your motor vibrates at a Low speed, it’s motor cable are not connected properly or it could also be burned. When I took out my cover my cables was totally burned and when I unplugged the burned cable the motor didn’t have a resistance to turn and was perfectly fine. So if you ever came across this problem, I would advise you to either change connecters or just have a look if the wires are burn.

Nice job. Appreciated no background music and factual content. And agree that stem flex and one finger throttle are areas that need improvement on most scooters. Is the suspension quiet on the 3? Is it compliant? I considered the Spider, but opted for an eMove Cruiser for water resistance rating because I'm in the rainy Northwest. It has coil springs in front and they rattle quite a bit. And 10" wheels on poor road surfaces quite jarring. Yeah, one handing is to be done only with extreme care. Too bad as it would be nice to be able to use hand signals.

This looks amazing but I was thinking about getting the qiewa q1 hummer as it's much lighter, despite the speed and range being lower. It still goes 30-35mph and has a really long range. If i have to carry the qiewa into my place of work every day, it will be much easier to do so. Plus it's significantly cheaper. If i were to get a scooter solely for any other reason besides work, I'd probably look at getting yours instead. The lower speed in the qiewa isn't a huge drawback either being as I would be riding it in an urban city anyways.

At 7:25 you mentioned the lack of a gyroscopic effect from the small wheels. Interestingly, the gyro effect of wheels has very little to do with the stability of bikes. I know...I thought it did too but it doesn't. The physics of it all is weirdly complex (considering we are talking bikes which are pretty simple machines). If you are interested watch this Minute Physics video on bike stability. More interesting than you would expect: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYuklGiqZ9GerNE
@DIYMark
@DIYMark 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. thanks for the comment. Excellent video reference. Someone else corrected me earlier about my mention of gyroscopic effect. What I was trying to get across is that the scooter is inherently unstable. Again not sure if it's rake, trail, small wheels, something else or combination of all of them. You have to keep your hands on the scooter handlebars...absolutely no "look Mom no hands". It demands constant input and a firm grip. Thanks again for a very interesting video!

Wow! Terrific review! You'd think the company itself sunk the $$$ in to producing this video it's that good. But what's the stability like at 40 MPH? A bird or lime doesn't feel particularly stable at their 18mph top speed, but at 40mph? Honestly, how are potholes handled? On a bird, i almost lose control if they're like over 1" deep, making me wonder if that's the reason for the scooters brand name: it's what you become if the pothole is deep enough... I wonder what happens when hitting a similarly sized pot hole at 40mph with this beast of a scooter!
@DIYMark

Hi Glenn thanks for the kind words. Stability is something these scooters need to work on. To be frank it's ride-able at 40 but with white knuckles. But worlds better than a bird or lime which were not meant to go over 15.

Nice review. How does it ride off-road - obviously not mountain bike type runs but in parks.... I use my current PEV to "walk" the dogs and prefer to stay on the grass away from the paths, and people.

Hi Jayesh. Haven't really used it on grass. It clearly is design for paved surfaces. But I think they are headed in that direction. The Dualtron X looks off-road ready.

You're video isn't the fanciest but you do a really great job of covering all aspects of the scooter. I think we tend to lean toward the higher end productions and favor them for their visual appeal. You are very thorough and very detailed. There is no doubt your videos will only get better and better if you continue to produce them. It's a good reminder to stay focused on important information. Thank you.

Hi Mat. Welcome to the Dualtron family! I could not get the ABS to work well for me. Or the Regen brake setting. I have turned off both and just run normal brake mode (setting in the controller...you'll see it in the manual). If you have not seen it, I did do an update video where I go over some things I've learned in the last year. Including some maintenance items. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pISxg5ujaL2ngac

The finger throttle doesn't give the precise and controlled power I'm accustomed to on my electric unicycle. You're spot on, gotta have a twist throttle on future models.

Excellent vid. I have the nanrobot d4+ and I noticed that your scooter and mine shared some of the same components. Was it hard to take the top cover off to the battery compartment? I can't figure out how to take mine off. I think it might be glued or something.
@DIYMark
@DIYMark 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Danny, I agree it seems many of parts are shared across scooter brands. My friend Gary's apocalypse has identical switches. Making me think they are sourced from the same Chinese vendor. The deck covering the battery compartment was ez on the Dualtron. But again Gary's apocalypse was sealed with silicon caulk. We had luck releasing it by using a heat gun on low and patience.

The DT3 is the only thing keeping me awake the whole video. GOSH!! dont be so monotone bruh. i own a scooter myself. a speedway 4. it's not as fast as the DT but i can assure you that wrist throttle s going to be a pain controlling the DT. Power wise. and it'll also be uncomfortable because, compared to a bike, u get to sit. on a scooter, u might wanna have that right grip free(so that u could rest some weight on the bar) and use a wuxing throttle(my advice) cause it's more comfortable and smoother compared to the stock finger throttle.

If holding down the trigger is an issue, then you can always enable cruise control. Once you turn this feature on it will enable after holding the throttle down for a few seconds and disengage when you press the trigger again.

@@Nemnoch2012 i never said i have any issue with finger throttle/triggers. but yes, i agree with u that cruise control is a very convenient feature to have on your ride if u go long distance commuting (eventho i don't really use it that much).

Good review. Have you had a chance to test top seed, yet? Also, have you had a chance to adjust some of the settings, such as the Regen Braking and acceleration at start up?
@DIYMark
@DIYMark 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the jury is still out. Top speed wise I hit 40 mph. Still messing with Regen. Right now I have it off...but just started testing with it off. Even on setting 1 it is quite pronounced and takes some getting used to. I have it set for no accel at start...just seems safer. Have got nearly 200 miles on the new one (replacement) with no issues so far.

@DIYMark
@DIYMark 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Bruno, glad you found the video helpful. Regarding the steering play....since I had two of them (failed and current) both have the same amount of play. Hence it is baked into the design. It definitely could be better but it doesn't affect the operation or control much.
