High mate , good video to watch , but just thought i would point out a couple of things that you may want to look at . In the video we saw alternate views which was good , but sometimes your mate wizzed past , sometimes you would wizz past him , did you guys swap scooters at any time in the clip ? at times it was difficult to ascertain which scooter and who was riding what. looking at the rear view with your buddy back in the distance i had no idea what scooter either of you where riding. at some stages it looked like your buddy wizzed past you then , either he backed off or you caught him ? There where no start and finish markers to the race. both of you guys had back packs on with no indication of who was heavier or lighter , and as we are not all little guys , it would be nice if you could mention the scooters rated weight limit . perhaps you could either mention at some stage whether you will be only riding X or Y or add subtitles or something . not trying to pick the shit out of your video , just it was a tad hard to work out what was what , sometimes it seemed the dualtron was faster , other times the rion . all the best to you . Edit: just thinking about it , perhaps just at the end of the video you could give a quick summary of what was what and just clarify your findings . cheers.

Which is better is quality/reliability though? The rion sure is fast, but how is the customer service? Also I don't see a milage estimate on the website? With such an expensive machine, I'd want to know they will stand behind it. I know that a company like mini motors will definitely stand behind theirs.

I have not owned a Rion for a long period of time, but it seems to be super high quality to me. Dualtrons have a reasonable level of quality, but there's also been a fairly high defect rate recently.

How come with 12000 watt it does not slip. Are there any throttle settings. It seems to build up power instead of going full at once.

If you gun the throttle the wheels spin out like crazy. I think the rider was actually being. A bit conservative this race, and gentle on the throttle. I’m editing another RE60 clip which shows the tires barely maintaining traction, should be out in a week or two.

No setting to it really, just depends on how far you hold the throttle 😅 The new RE60 throttle is very smooth though, you can ride in a very gentle fashion as long as you don’t press it all the way.

Alien Rides That’s what I have as well. It has plenty of power in my humble opinion. The X-Rion is definitely awesome and a performance minded Scoot. I’m sure it’s a blast to get on and ride! Given the price it’s prohibitive for now. I’d still keep the Dualtron if I were to ever pull the trigger on a X-Rion.

I think they're just starting production on the RE70/RE90 models so there's going to be a long time before there's an upgrade. Now is the best time to buy in IMO. Worst case, they do allow you to upgrade through the various models.

The RION is meant for high speed racing, so I think it's super stable at speed. It's more similar to a stiff suspension on a hyper car, compared to a SUV. So while you will feel the bumps more, you should always be in control.

Cool compare! The RE60 is amazing and something I would love to get one day. I have grown accustomed to lugging around the 61lbs. of the Mantis even on BART. It is hard to go back to scooters that only go 25MPH. It isn't the top end speed that is the most important to me but the acceleration and ability to comfortably keep up with traffic when needed is great. Does the RE60 fold down?

The RE60 is only going to save you 6lbs or so, but damn that would be one stylish ride to commute on. The RE60 does fold down, and it's actually one of the best folding mechanisms I've seen. Zero play in the handlebars, and it feels really solid to me. I would say that maybe the body is a bit more difficult to lift than the Mantis, purely due to the Mantis being a boring rectangle, but it's a pretty minor issue.

What's up buddy. Another great video. You should set up your thunder just like that one with the V1 stem adapter. Just go with a longer stem with a rise to it so the bars are up and out more like I have on my ultra👍✌

I think the new RE90 might be around the same speed or faster than the old RE100, but I'm sure there is a new faster RE100 that is always a step ahead. Seems like they use the RE100 as a test bed and technology trickles down from that.

I love this vid have a thunder and I find that if you turn all the lights off you have a bit more power on tap but the the rion is still much faster considering.

That is absolutely true. So many times I've been on the way home with only about 28% battery. Turn off all lights battery power goes 🔋 to about 32%-34%....

It’s not. Because they use air cooling, there are exposed electronics, so you definitely don’t want to rude the Rion in rain. It wouldn’t be fun in the rain with the racing slicks anyway.

Both the Dualtron Thunder and Rion are awesome scooters, personally I say the Thunder is more versatile, but the Rion is much faster. It's got a 21 amp hour battery, so similar range as say a Dualtron Spider, maybe a little less at full speed. I'll be doing a range test in the future, expecting to get around 20-30 miles on it. (I get 30 miles on the Thunder when racing at high speeds)

@@matelslug1Ok thanks but putting a scooter on a bench (wheels off the floor) is not a accurate way to test max speed at all.. cause my Chinese generic brand 5600w does the same too, but gets to 56 mph on the road. Turned out mine has dual 50 amp voltage controllers so it puts out 6700w at full charge.. mine is severely underrated. Dualtron Thunder tops out at around 50 mph it doesn't have enough meat to get to 60.. they are rated at 5400w.

I think we will hear news soon of a larger battery! Right now the claimed range on the 21ah battery is about 30 miles, probably accurate for riding at a reasonable speed. I haven’t tested range at full speed, but my guess is 15 miles, maybe a bit less. (I get about 25 miles on the thunder when mashing near full speed)

Can you get non-smooth tires for the Rion? I personally would appreciate some grippier standard tires on a scooter like that, or at least the option to change, since I like to go on footpaths and stuff. I think it would be beneficial to have the option.

You can probably order some tires from PMT which have tread, but personally if you like trails and off-roading i’d take a second scooter for that. Don’t ruin the amazing racing feeling of the Rion!

Damn nice to watch!! That Rion is a big beast with a nice sound! I have a Ninebot G30 but that scooter is to slow so i need another one haha.. I love acceleration and im thinking to buy the Thunder or the Rion, hmm hard choice.. Those scooters are a addiction :p

I have the dualtron x and its so comfortabel, the good shock dampeners, the steering damper and big battery make this a perfect cruise missile for longer trajects. And its pretty fast too

I swear the RION straight up takes advantage of higher current output cells most likely a much more powerful bms too. Just having the power available to pull from the battery in excess makes so much of a difference in performance. More rigid voltages means higher top speeds under full load, etc. It’s like comparing a lipo powered system to a lead acid ;)

What does an re60 controller demand at full tilt in amps? Any idea what the max current supply from the battery on them is for these models man? (The Rion and the Dualtron) (rated numbers is fine). I don’t want Rion to give away too many secrets ;)

For sure, many PEVs could be much faster if they used higher amperage controllers and drew more from the batteries. Some of the new batteries can pull ~60+ amps per cell. I forget the exact battery configuration of the RE60, but I think the RE90 has 7 parallel groups? It's a lot of amps though 🤯

Alien Rides what does the bms limit it down to though? It’s usually printed on the actual battery itself :) eg 60v 20.8ah 30amps max. We never see bare cell performance because of the safety features included to prevent battery ignition. I’m not surprised they’re going north of 50amps per cell! The newer lithium cells can give out up to 70amps constant per cell before they start to get warm. The pack I was telling you I designed, is a 6x 10s1p config (so you can swap between voltages etc, but each cell is capable of 120amps continuous) so you can throw that entire 6 pack in parallel to get a seriously powerful 36v scooter with 72ah 720 amp constant output, 1440amp burst. (Fits in the mid size flj/janobike battery tray with two phaserunners and charging hardware) or a seriously powerful 240~v 12ah drag scooter capable of 120amps continuous, 240amps 30 second burst. Hooking that battery up to any Chinese scooter will make it perform so much better than any prebuilt or diy lifepo4 pack you could buy/build today and fit in that volume. And you’d gain so much more useable range than any pack you’d fit in there usually. Finding a bms to do something like that though, is really, really expensive and kinda only a diy solution at the moment when it comes to commercially available parts. I really wish that we could see more pouch cells used instead of round cell types, they always maintain a better weight/power density/capacity density balance than round cells do too. I’m not knocking the Rion or others at all, I’m just one of those guys that likes to go so much faster. You have to if you want to compete with petrol heads

I seen a video the other day with the Dualtron X and the Tech 9 and the tech 9 beat it pretty hands down!! But I think the Rion is still faster maybe if you can check it out?? I think it’s a fairly new scooter?? It’s cost right around $3400.00!! Maybe a tad cheaper than the Thunder!! What is the top speed of the Rion??

Interesting, haven't seen the Tech 9 scooter really, but seems like Rion should be faster. I'll have to see if I can take a look at it. The entry level RE60 has a top speed of about 60mph, and other race editions like the RE80/RE100 are much faster.

Rion may win races but... the Dualtron Thunder still wins when it comes to range.😅 Be interesting if one day they start making bigger scooters like the Thunder or X because if they did I might consider buying one. The only thing that preventing me from buying a Rion is the battery capacity it just seems so small to me. 🤷‍♂️ Despite having smaller batteries compared to the Dualtron Scooters but that’s just me though. Rion Scooters are still an amazing scooter I look forward seeing what new models they plan to create in te near future.🛴💨💨👍

On paper it was a no contest in favor of the Rion RE60 based on massive wattage and lower weight which translates to a higher power to weight ratio. Good for viewers to see how these specs affect performance from a standing or rolling start without factoring the weight of the individual riders.RE60 with a heavier rider would still have a performance advantage.

All around, so I guess you're looking for range, speed, maybe off-roading and weatherproofing. I do think the Dualtron Thunder is great for that, maybe even the Weped SS if you're looking for something big. For smaller, maybe the Dualtron Eagle, Mantis Pro, Zero 10x. Lots of options out there, but most of them are a lot more boring than the Rion 😅

The RE60 knock spots off everything the Dualtron Thunder does, But in the wrong hands thats not necessary a good thing, I get mu Thunder tomorrow but even looking at this the Re60 looks much better for speed But the THUNDER Looks more ROBUST and SAFER , the RE60 looks ultra modern and I can only go but the video the RE60 looks like a CHILDS plastic scooter , MAYBE great over in the UK as the police wont pull you for having a kids scooter, Well untill you take over a police car that is haha. I can guarantee you that the Rion looks more along the lines of a McLaren than a kids toy, at least in person :) The Thunder is a great choice though, very practical for a wide variety of riding conditions. Congrats on the purchase, you're going to love it.

Both are whatever the manufacturer says they are, typically peak watts is more theoretical and not indicative of typical running watts. I do wish there were a more standardized way of measuring scooter power.
