Exactly! Battery packs need to be more universal so we don't end up with all kinds of batteries at home that are not being used at all. I'm looking at buying a big enough battery to charge my laptop when I'm out and about this summer but it would be much nicer if I could just use my Worx and Parkside batteries that I already have and are not doing much most of the time.

Great product Howard. My 3ah battery charged my Galaxy S21 Ultra (5000mah) 3 times to 85% (battery protection mode) regarding the BMS in batteries, Makita have a little star on the top in the plastic if it has BMS, no star, no BMS.

Really useful info Lee and thanks for reporting back on the tests you've done! All the best!
@uhjyuff2095 Жыл бұрын
the makita battery I have has a star but that only means that it will shut off when specifically used with a power tool that also has a star on it. So even the star batteries don't have low voltage protection, but the Florean or some of the knock off makita batteries actually do have low voltage protection.

Another Great Video! At first I thought the PCB might have been similar to the one I recently fitted in an old miners lamp, but that was for charging lithium cells, not PD. I see you like your LED lights too! I've fixed quite a few Milwaukee one's. I recently repaired a huge one which has 12x Cree LED's in it. I used it in the miners lamp video in a huge cavern and it lit the place up well!

Very cool! ... 12 cree LEDs sounds like it draws a lot of current! .. How long does the battery last?

@@DubiousEngineering not too sure but its bloody bright if you check out my miners lamp repair video I test it in the mine exploring part. I had a 5ah battery in it and the smaller light with around 8 cree lasts a good few hours!

Does the battery management also have discharge protection? Somewhere I read that that part is build into the powertool and not in the battery itself.

I bought one of these recently, it's great. I have questions, though, it's such an intriguing device. I have a 10000mAh battery bank (for an iphone) that I charged with a parkside battery. That battery bank has 50 Wh of capacity, however my 4Ah Parkside battery has only 80 Wh of capacity. How can the size be so different (the parkside is much much larger than the bank). Do you know why? I only wish I had one of these adaptors when we had a power cut last year, I was stuck in the car for hours on end charging my phone... This is a game changer.
@DubiousEngineering2 ай бұрын
It’s likely that your 10Ah bank is over specified…. It’s quite common for mildly unscrupulous manufacturers to claim more power than they can deliver. The best thing is to check how many full charges you get from 10 % battery life on the same device…. Then you’ll understand the weight and size difference!
@codetutor65932 ай бұрын
@@DubiousEngineering Interesting! The powerbank charges 2 full charges of an iphone xr (11Wh battery). judging that the power bank used well over half the 4Ah (80Wh) Lidl battery to charge, that perhaps means that there's a dc to dc conversion cost? I must try charging the phone directly and see if it charges the potential 7 theoretical times. I know this is off topic from your fantastic device, but I've gone too far down the rabbit hole. Thanks for the reply.

This pcb with 18 battery , maximum output power 41w And you need low power cut off pcb

This PCB says 64 watts out, and makita have low power battery management circuits built into their batteries.

@@DubiousEngineering i checked with Witrn U3,starts with 41w but stable output only 36w ,until the voltage drops to 14 volts. Cutoff don't work in my original batteries, voltage drops to 8v

what type of burn rate classification is on the plastic?
@DubiousEngineering6 ай бұрын
88mm.mm-1 plus minus 3.5
@mathiasludvigsson29056 ай бұрын
UL 94 standard, which classifies plastics according to how they burn in various orientations and under different conditions, ranging from V-0 (best) to HB (worst), including classifications like V-1, V-2, and 5VB or 5VA for more specific conditions. Prusa has classified plastics, surely other fillament manufacturers to. Applicable standard for this type of device has quite high demands. The switching transformer and some other parts on the pcb tends to get quite hot under load. I like the idea! But be careful selling theese, so they dont become unwanted candles in someones home.
