Between 1970 to 1975 lived in Dubai, worked in Sharjah and Qatar. Rain was considered to bring good luck. Having the tallest towers in the world creates eddies drawing in moisture from the Gulf in over the desert making the perfect conditions for precipitation. When weather fronts breakdown strong winds result. When high winds and precipitation combine the outcome can be costly for regions such as the UAE. Humidity, of course, is always present day and night. Cloud seeding has it’s place under the right conditions, obviously not in the UAE.

Click bait - Dubai is not in disaster… We get these storms every year and majority of roads were back to normality by 11am… Also Dubai Police regularly send sms warnings during these storms… My journey to JAFZA took around ten minutes longer than normal .. As a resident i can confirm it is not true…..video is of a decade old storm ! Video clippings also showig cyclone Gonu that came in Oman ! All is well in Dubai n water logs cleared in few hours !

The UAE has always been desert region. They never expected such heavy rainfall let alone thunderstorms. It was not developed considering such a possibility which is now prominent around the world due to climate change.

I remember it happening a decade before. The roads in Dubai are not for heavy rains and thunderstorms.. Whole of Sharjah and Dubai was this way due to a 2 days heavy rain some years back May be 2009.. This used to happen .. The rain must stop then they will open the drains. It will go inshallah.
