Great video. I've been a delay fiend for a long time but will have to seek out the DMB Lunar Echo. I highly recommend a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo (effectively a new version of the Echoplex tube EP2, which I love, have two) and the Bugbrand PT delay (from Bristol's own Tom Bugs). Talking of Source Audio, give their old dimension reverb pedals a try. cheap on ebay, they're mono and they're green.

I absolutely love the dub delay/echo effect and I've tried to replicate it in Reason although I'm plagued with feedback problems when I want the repeats to last for 32 bars or more. Can anyone point me towards a tutorial that would keep the frequencies in check in the software world? Archive have used the technique in a few of their incarnations and those are precisely what I want to emulate.

Absolutely great video! It would be awesome to see the same video-concept but with reverb fx-units! :-) A little bit off-topic, but I hope it's ok: I would have two questions regarding the use of spring reverbs in live situations. I'm currently using a Vermona Retroverb Lancet in my setup. My problem is, that when the bass kicks in at live-concerts the spring starts vibrating which causes unpleasant feedbacks. Any tips and tricks for using analog springs in live-situations? Is the only "clean" solution the use of a spring reverb emulation? Thanks, and keep going with your great videos!
@Ollieman_4 жыл бұрын
you just actually solved one big question i had!!! thanks, im going for the tru spring
@dubkasm3 жыл бұрын
That's a hard one - props for using it live . Our good friend Egoless uses a Lancet live to amazing effect (in heavy dub bass environments). My immediate thought is you could isolate it with some foam like you do a record deck, or you could use a noise/hum eliminator pedal which acts like a noise gate for guitar. Good luck :)
@daleadelic3 жыл бұрын
you wrap the spring rever up or at least place it on a pillow to stop it vibrating on whatever its sitting on
@ezzong3 жыл бұрын
Awesome video. May i ask what do you guys use to connect the pedals to the daw or is it just using send signals from your mixer? I'm trying to use my delay pedals for mixing but can't get the audio to line level. I'm just using a scarlett interface though.
@dubkasm3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Rezmar, in our setup it is just aux send effects. I think you may be limited to the number of ins and outs your Scarlett has but it is possible to use an external effect and record it into the mix of your DAW. There may be some latency but that may not be a problem. Hope this answers your question! Big up

Technical question. Do I need reamp and di box to connect h9 or Strymon as send fx with mixer and have good sound?
@dubkasm5 жыл бұрын
It does improve the signal to noise ratio if you use a reamp box in and then a passive DI on the way out, into your desk XLR. The demo was using a reamp box on the way in but just straight line level outputs from the H9. Ideally you'd have two channels of DI but it can be done without them. Hope it helps

Thanks a lot Simón! Yeah, Momory Man is wicked. what about the space echo pedal? RE-20
@dubkasm5 жыл бұрын
Have tried it before. The original Space Echo is of course an absolute killer but I never found the pedal emulation's feedback quite right. Great all round pedal though. I like how they have faithfully recreated the combos of delays and reverbs like on the original. One of my best memories of the RE201 is Aba Shanti using it in the Falasha studio with just the spring reverb engaged - worthy of a pedal in its own right! Thanks for watching
@daleadelic3 жыл бұрын
@@dubkasm i have also owned the various space echo clones but never liked the feedback when kept going. the newish boss re20 my favourite sounding space echo emulation but still i couldnt get into the feedback when turned right up it went into a nasty distortion that didnt sound real so i sold it and got a strymon el capistan and all my prayers were answered. the feedback was so lush it was hard to resist not over using it haha in fact the el cap is my favorite delay ever out of all digital and real tape etc. it has such a lush hi end sound but still contains the rawness of a tape type sound :)
