So many places with more time to check out. Belfast. Bru Na Boinne on the way to Belfast for more ancient history. Game of Thrones tours. Giant's Causeway. Golf courses. Galway. West coast, including cliffs like Slieve League County Donegal. Hiking. Derry. I did not go southern Ireland but hear Cork and Blarney Castle would be cool. On my list. I did rent a car and this was very beneficial.

We will be there for 3 weeks and we are renting a car as well. I’m especially looking forward to our time in Kilkenny, County Cork, Malin Head (fingers crossed we see the northern lights) and Northern Ireland. And afternoon tea at Ashford Castle!
@PaulVega-y9v8 ай бұрын
Don’t try to see entire island in 17 days, especially driving. You’ll end up with a nervous breakdown or divorce. The best, in my opinion is Kilkenny, Killarney, dingle , ring of Kerry gallway and salt hill. At least 2 or 3 days in each of those. Dublin…1 full day…then get out. Forget Waterford and Wexford. Not worth the drive.

@@BrianandCarrie You should go to a gaelic football or hurling match they are more popular nthan soccer or rugby not by very much in fair ness but they are huge aswell and native to ireland whereas rugby and socecer are international sports good sports but you get more of a sense of irishness at gaelic football and hurling.They are not played anywhere else hence rugby and soccer have national teams for people to get behind

Ireland is totally underrated! I took the train and the bus to get to the Cliffs of Moher and stayed in the village of Doolin for a few days, which is known for it pubs with live music and various bands from all over Europe go to play there. Nothing like sitting in a pub by a fireplace with a plate of Irish Stew, Soda Bread and a pint of Guinness of a rainy March day. Speaking of which, the Guinness tour was great! When I went, they actually explained and taught you how to pour a proper Guinness. In the end, they even gave you a certificate, which was pretty cool.. Thanks for the walk down memory lane)

Guys it’s great to hear that you had a good time here. If you’re stopping off again I would recommend that you take the DART train from Dublin City to Bray and (on a good day) walk the cliffs overlooking the Irish Sea, to Greystones in County Wicklow. Both towns are well worth a visit and the views on the walk are second to none. Additionally, Brian if you get there around beer o’clock; you won’t be disappointed with the choices available to you for a quick beer. Another beautiful town in north county Dublin well worth a day trip is Skerries. Beautiful beaches (one sand and one stone) a lovely harbour and fantastic coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. Honestly you won’t be disappointed. Finally, I’d recommend getting a DART northbound to Sutton and walking onto the beach and all the way up to Howth Village. Another small harbour town with incredible views, walks and places to eat and drink. Best of luck on the rest of your journey. I wish you well.

I got engaged in Dublin almost 25 years ago! Love Ireland and have been there multiple times. I would say 5 days is ok for just Dublin but you really need to rent a car and get out there at stay with locals along the way west and south. I’ve had so many wonderful experiences waking up in someone’s home to an Irish breakfast, walking their land or local town for lunch or pub, even horseback riding. You just don’t get same experience on a tour bus. We’ve stopped randomly to see ruins, cemeteries, abbey’s, pubs, sheep, live music, dolphins jumping along the coast, etc. Have explored Killarney, Cork, Dingle Peninsula, Ring of Kerry/ Cliffs of Moher, Blarney, Achille Island, Aran Island, Galway, Dublin, Waterford, Limerick, etc. There’s so much to see in Ireland!!

We just returned from Ireland. It was spectacular. We spent four days in Galway where we stayed at The Flannery Hotel. Took day trips to the Cliffs of Moher and The Connemara National Park. Both day trips were amazing. We also spent three days in Dublin, where we did day trips to Howth Cliffs and the Dublin Botanical Gardens which are spectacular. We also did the usual sites in Dublin. Except for 1 restaurant, most of the food was disappointing, even at highly-rated restaurants. In Dublin, we stayed at The Trinity City Hotel and I highly recommend it. Next time car trip!

I know you just had a few days. But, you missed SO much of what makes Ireland such a wonderful place to visit. We’ve been many times to Ireland and the British Isles and I can tell you that it never gets old. I would not advise taking a bus tour because you miss out on so and are part of the tourist trap. Rent a car and it is so easy to get around (even driving on the opposite side of the road…it’s an easy adaptation). Galway is beautiful and a great getaway if you aren’t part of the tourist mob. The Irish countryside and the local pubs are next level good and they ALL have live music and dance…not just the touristy ones in Dublin. Castles galore and the Irish coastline is breathtaking as are the islands just off the coast (Aran Islands and Achal Island are some of our favorites). We’ve made quite a few friends there through the years and will be back again in June of this year.

@@BrianandCarrie For Galway, 2 hours was not enough and the long bus journey probably didn't help. So for traditional Irish music we would recommend Tígh Chóili or The Crane Bar, both of these bars will have people walk in off the street with their instruments and join in the music with the musicians. You can’t book tables in these establishments but I would strongly recommend them for an authentic Gaelic culture experience. The other bars I would recommend would be Taaffes or Tigh Neachtain these would be my recommendation for the best pints of Guinness in Ireland. The Quays bar is very popular with tourists and they have late night music. There are other bars that would be more modernist Bierhaus for European beers & Universal for some bites and cocktails. All of these bars are with walking distance of each other on the Main Streets of Galway. For restaurants it depends what you are in the mood for, the Main Street for food is Quay street. It has everything from McDonaghs fish and chips to casual dining at Martines Wine bar, Freddy’s. Galway is also world renowned for its restaurants Rubin on the docks, Kai on sea road, Cava Bodega, Oscars, Ard Bia has lovely views of the river all of these restaurants use locally sourced ingredients. And Kai which has won the first in the world awarded Michelin Green Star (no waste kitchen). For Nature walks within the city I would recommend walking the famous “long walk”, followed by the costal walk to Salthill on the promenade. There is a few nice restaurants and bars in Salthill as well, perfect for a sunny or wet day if you can brave the weather. There are plenty of walks outside the city centre, if you are driving the small sea side town of Spiddeal is known for its views. The village of Roundstone has epic scenery I recommend the oysters in Dowds pub and the Ballynahinch castle in Recess. Connemara is the heart of County Galway with spectacular views one of the best known tourist spots would be Kylemoreabbey and the Connemara National Park. The Aran on Islands and Clifden, Galway has so much to offer the best seafood and don't skip Mayo - Achill, Westport, Croagh Patrick, Louisburgh, Clare Island.

Great video once again with quality content, including budget. It's worth every cent as you have indicated! You'll be reminded by many of what you missed in Dublin as well as in and around Ireland. So very much to see. Remember "Beer before liquor, never sicker. Liquor before beer, you're in the clear". I stayed back in May 2019 at the Skylon Hotel as a recommendation. A little further out but walkable into the city centre. I didn't do the whiskey tours but did do Guiness. Guiness tastes better the closer you are to Dublin, which was my experience. The factory itself didn't show the brewing process and you didn't see the factory floor, unlike whiskey. The view at top of bar at Guiness was excellent. Book of Kell's especially the library at Trinity College was excellent although recently I saw pics with the book volumes being removed at library. Kilmainham Gaol, rather than churches was where I spent time. Each night with live music at a pub with beers was excellent, I stayed away from Temple Bar to another pub down the street. So many places to venture from Dublin, including Belfast. I also visited Giant's Causeway and Slieve League for cliffs that was simply unbelievable! I would go back to Ireland and Dublin in a heartbeat. "Man, Brian seems to really like his fish and chips!!" LOL Funny! Cheers both!!

We do need to go back to experience all that we missed. Six days simply isn't enough time. Belfast, Cork and the small towns on the west coast are something that we want to experience sooner than later. Thank you for always supporting us, Robert!!

You guys lucked out with weather. I went for a week in August, statistically the sunniest month of the year and it rained buckets everyday, including the cliffs of Moore / Galway tour day! For people who like sweets, get a scoop of Murphy ice cream in Galway (also available in Dublin), it’s one of the creamiest ice cream I’ve ever had.

Hi Brian and Carrie, I'd already been to Ireland a decade ago (for 2 weeks; my tour group went almost everywhere except Counties Cork and Kerry). In my personal experience, I felt that 4 days in Dublin was enough - 1 day to sleep off the jet lag, 2nd day for Trinity College + Book of Kells + Guinness Storehouse. Day 3 was a 'Free Day' and half of the group used it to go to Jameson Distillery, the other half went out somewhere near Temple Bar IIRC. Day 4 we had a day trip to County Wicklow. Then Day 5 was another free day before we were heading elsewhere in the country. We saw the Cliffs of Moher too, and overnighted in Galway (which wasn't a bad location, but it's definitely only a 1-to-2 night stay IMO). I've been wanting to go back again and explore it a litte differently the next time around, though. Oh! I know you mentioned I think the Storehouse has non-alcoholic options, but what if a traveler is sober and doesn't want to see the Storehouse or the Distilleries? Are there any good non-alcoholic consumption related activities aside from what you've already covered? You've given me an idea though - I don't know what final destination I want to fly to out of Dublin (where did you guys go? Sorry in advance if you've covered this in a newer video already and I haven't seen yet!), but I think if I were to go back I'd do 4-5 days and not stay in Dublin the whole time and use that time to book train/bus trips to other cities, and then go to wherever my true final destination is after that. Sort of using Dublin as a "home base" while 'city hopping', as it were.
@BrianandCarrie8 ай бұрын
We really loved Dublin, but they're read plenty more in Ireland we just didn't have time to see. There were plenty of sites to see in Dublin that weren't alcohol related beyond what we mentioned I'm sure, just takes a bit of searching to find. Enjoy any future travel planning 😊

If you ever come back check out northern Ireland....2 hour bus from Dublin to Belfast. The people in the north are so friendly and welcoming. Derry and the north coast is worth a visit aswell 👍

Always so many thoughts watching your videos. Sounded like a great trip! Like I mentioned on FB, I got to Cork. Speaking of driving through the countryside, I thought I would be clever on the trip over and instead of flying into Gatwick from Texas and racing down to Heathrow for a connection to Cork, I thought I'd fly into Shannon on Aer Lingus and take the bus across Ireland to Cork. Great idea, right? I got into Shannon at 6am on a Sunday, the bus to Cork was at 9am, and there is pretty much nothing open in the Shannon airport or, I imagine, anywhere else in Shannon, at that time. Then five minutes out of Shannon the bus was enveloped in very thick fog, which stuck around the entire drive to Cork. I did get to at least stop in Limerick, though we didn't get off the bus. I did get to watch a little of the Irish Football finals between County Kerry and County Cork at a restaurant/bar on the Ring of Kerry tour. Kind of US football meets rugby with a touch of basketball thrown in. I'd go back to see Dublin an the Cliffs of Mohr any time. Great video! (I always heard it was "beer after whiskey, mighty risky; whiskey after beer, nothing to fear." Funny how important that preposition is. 😀).
@BrianandCarrie9 ай бұрын
Oh goodness, not a great start to your trip, hope the rest went better. Yes, it is VERY important the order you put those drinks in...if you want the next day to run smoothly ☺. Thanks so much for watching - Cheers!!

Excellent video. Didn’t realize you could do Dublin without having to rent a car. Thanks for all the info.
@BrianandCarrie9 ай бұрын
No need to rent a car with the public transportation system they have. If you are comfortable driving on the opposite side of the road then renting a car does give you some freedom. We just don't want the cost and added stress that will come with it. Thank you for watching and commenting!! Cheers!!🍻
@gallowglass26309 ай бұрын
I wouldn't attempt to drive in dublin unless you are leaving it and have no other choice,they are buses ,trams ,trains.Outside dublin a rental is advisable to get to the less touristy areas because the public transport is very dublin centric.
@michaelhartwig34173 ай бұрын
We've been to Dublin 3 times, and there's no way I would attempt to drive in the city. We always either take the shuttle to the airport and rent there, or have Dublin as our last stop & erop the car off at the airport before going into town.

Good video guys. Can I make a couple of points 1/ Phoenix Park is out of bounds for drones ... It has President's Home and Garda Headquarters (Police) 2/ Transport for Ireland App (TFI) you can download on your phone and it's integrated with all the transport options apart from Taxis. With that you can plan your way around not only Dublin but the whole country. 3/ A Leapcard which you can buy in any newsagents shop is cheaper than paying cash on buses etc. It can be used on all transport services except taxis. Most taxis now take credit cards.

The National Leprechaun Museum in Jarvis section, across from the Lua stop is a good place to visit. It is NOT FREE, but the price is not bad. Fenix Park is a GREAT value, not just for the zoo. Saint Steven's Green is a great little park with lots of history sites about the struggle for independence. Counting the bullet holes at the GPO (General Post Office) is always a good Irish thing to do.

I was loving your channel, having watched around fifteen or twenty of your videos over the last couple of days. Just as I was about to hit the subscribe button, you went and made the joke about, " . . .left you wanting moor." See, dad jokes I can handle. But c'mon man! 🙂 Yeah, I subscribed anyway. P.S. Lived in Bellevue for over a decade so I know your home base very well! Wife and I are retiring in Bulgaria and then jumping around every three months or so. (She holds dual Bulgarian/U.S. Citizenship so it makes it a little easier for us.)
