I'm delighted to tell you all that I'm currently building my very own vision of this mad C30 Ploestar! I never saw this piece of Top Gear before, but it motivates me even more! I took a regular 2002 S60 2.3L T5, lowered it, strengthened the chassis and put a Brembo big brake kit on it. Swaybars are still missing. Also, I'm currently rebuilding a second 2.3L, but all stronger internals, adding a slightly better K24 hybrid turbo, which should bump me up to 420HP. The low-end will be a bit miserable because I'm missing the VVT that the C30's 2.5L block has, but I'm not planning to be in the low RPMs all that often when driving it hard anyways. To complete the overhaul, I've already collected an S60R rear axle and cardan for the AWD swap, lighter flywheel and stronger 6-puck clutch. That leaves me with just getting the LSDs and the gearbox.

@@lukeguilfoyle2425 I got a little sidetracked and I'm currently building a 2002 V40 sleeper. Built a block with rods, pistons and shims. The guy I bought it from rebuilt the head but he did it wrong. He did many other things wrong too, so what was supposed to be a 2 month project turned out to be a 12 month project... I don't have much free time anymore, which also contributes to slow progress. Today I'm actually rebuilding the head properly! I already have a cut japanifold, downpipe and 18T turbo ready. I expect to be done in a week or so. I have all the parts for the S60 ready and I really did my homework, so when i finally get around to it it should just all bolt staight in. It's going to run a G25-550.

All these models aren't exactly common, but the brands are common. A Subaru Cosworth isn't common at all (it's very rare). But Subaru the brand is common. Just as Volvo the brand is common. Anyhow, Volvo is owned by a Chinese "Communist" company, working with the "aim to support the growth of the Chinese auto industry through the growth of Geely to serve our national strategies". Imagine thinking a limited run of 75 CS400 is more common than the Volvo. Even the WRX‘s and STi‘s of that era are likely rarer. I’ve only ever seen about 5, and one of them is my own. The older WRX‘s and STi‘s are far more common, though.
