And thats why you get the prior year A4 or S4 B5 or RS4 B5. (the B6 S4 doesn't have any flaws so to say, the chain guides issue is on all FSI V8s, A6 C5 and the Facelift models of the A8 D3 2007-2010). The T5 has so many issues, the stupid girdle plate that hold the cams and acts as a valve cover and uses a sealant and that you literally roll on with a paint roller from Volvo, and it doesn't stop crap. The accessory belt has a tendency to get misaligned during heavy loads, and gets sucked into the cam belt behind the crank pully, bending all the valves. The rear heater hoses break from age, and the car overheats, the radio connection for all the modules in the car is fiber optic, and as it ages from vibrations it cracks and is guaranteed to happen on all of them, especially the C70 (Waste many hours testing all the lines to find the break and pull the interior apart to replace the line). The interior of them also don't age well at all unless kept in a garage its whole life. The NVH from the mounting system for the trans and engine is horrendous and feels like a diesel truck, the transmission are built like glass, and limit the torque in 1st and 2nd gear, they will start to slip around 100k to 150k miles with heavy use. The front and rear both suffer from extreme tire wear due to incorrect factory camber that isn't adjustable without buying adjustable arms (this applies to almost all Volvos of the era). I hate working on them.

It's very fun to drive, and it's always great to see the surprised looks on the faces of muscle car drivers when you stay right by their side at a set of lights. Despite the low ride height, I've found the suspension to be quite nice, and it even handles dirt and gravel roads quite well. The only thing I don't care for is the automatic gearbox. It shifts at the wrong times and randomly decides it wants to downshift into third gear while doing 70 mph on the motorway, so I always have it in sport. Other than that, great car!

I love top gear but ive always been disappointed with this segment. It seems that no one except R owners understand the level of performance this car actually has. Its always funny to see the expressions on the faces of drivers of "fast" cars such as the honda s2000, mazdaspeed 3, 2 and even 3 valve mustang gt's, f body camaros and firebirds, scion frs, and even some bmw's. Priceless
@hondasarecool19 жыл бұрын
Volvo s60r Also did you stop and think that maybe they'd shredded the collar gear? That was a hell of a lot of wheelspin off the line, and that's how you kill them by launching it.
@aimedshadez1019 жыл бұрын
I hadn't really thought about it, but its pretty possible. You have to be nice to the volvo or the maintenance stacks up quick Sean Cloughley
@hondasarecool19 жыл бұрын
I know a buddy of mine dumped clutch in his and shredded it, AWD never worked again. Could have done that when they tried to launch it. I just feel like the wheel spin was a little much.
@aimedshadez1019 жыл бұрын
Probably what happened. I have never tried launching any awd car that i have owned because i feel that it causes too much stress on the transfer case. Anyways, i feel like the top gear guys definitely ragged on the car they tested. Sean Cloughley
@hondasarecool19 жыл бұрын
These S60Rs don't have a transfer case. Which is why they're so susceptible to the failure. My AWD is out due to a faulty dem. I'm assuming nobody knew of the issue when the car was tested because it was too new.

My dad had this car from '06 onwards, and while to me I didn't see anything too special with it when I was younger, the more I got older and the more I got into cars, it started to look a bit more refined, a bit more like a proper car, instead of just another coupe

Doug DeMouro tested this car recently and went on and on about the teal/orangebrown colour combination was the weirdest combination in car history. Yet there isn't a single comment here about it, must be in his head only?

Love my Volvo s60! She still looks good and gets me to work everyday safely. (2002 with 170k Miles) EVEN THOUGH, the dash array only comes on when it rains (no gas gauge, no MPH, no Odometer, sucks). EVEN THOUGH, the turn radius is wacky and always rubs my tires. EVEN THOUGH, no matter how fast I go, people seem to ALWAYS get right up my ass like I'm a Granny. EVEN THOUGH, she's been leaking oil somewhere for the last year and I've been getting crazy smoke out the exhaust under heavy load since then, like when going up hills/ quick acceleration. (Sorry if you behind me.. Admittedly I've been neglecting her.) But there is something about this beautiful work horse that just doesn't stop. She is insanely reliable. She is very comfortable. She absolutely LOVES the cold and the snow with some classical music. (I'm not kidding you!) This is why once you own a Volvo, you buy more. They are built solid, very safe, and just run.

My mother just got a '04 V70R 6 speed manual, at 330 HP it's twice that of our '61 Ferrari. We absolutely love it. After putting over 1 million miles on her previous two wagons, '76 265 M46 & '85 745 M46 she ended up with an '01 V70 T5 M65. It was zippy but a total lemon and needed a new engine after 100,000 miles and kicked the bucket after another 70,000 miles. You can fill the back full of Costco shopping and still have fun speeding up tight mountain roads in Advanced. My '82 245 Turbo M46 restoration project isn't holding my attention like it was before now we've got this.

4:54 England is the coutnry that broke the engima code? I dont think so! Poland did!
@mbcustomcycles48237 жыл бұрын
TheTopHatScoot not exactly true.. the poles did crack enigma but that was the early version before the war. The poles did help with cracking the more sophisticated war time device alongside turing so they do deserve more credit. But remember that the poles had no chance to break the war version without turing and vice versa. The real story is of course unknown but i know for sure that the poles had no ability or resources to build the machine that broke the lorenz cipher because if they did, it would be them that would have kept computers a secret or exploited it for themselves or sold the technology to the usa as part of war reparations as the uk did.
