@8golftango this technique applies to any mpc and any software program. you sample in Stereo and seperate the left from the right channel and you layer them on top of each other and you filter them both differently and seperate levels.
@BlackSymphany12 жыл бұрын
Yo, you opened my eyes up to why sampling the drums in stereo is beneficial. I appreciate you using your time to give away these secrets of sampling, Keep these coming... BTW your beats chitty chitty bang bang... You crazy on the MP.... Respect Kid... deuces I'm still tripping off of this.....
@dubsbanger13 жыл бұрын
@Airek2007 yes you seperate the one same kick or snare etc and tweak them individually and then layer them on top of each other to play at the same time.
@dubsbanger13 жыл бұрын
@iromeku they will be sent out as mono hits to the daw but layered on top of each other as opposed to the left channel only being sent out of the left speaker. they will be both recorded as one but layered on top of each other. watch the video and try it for yourself. it comes with a download. thats the whole point of it fam.

i apply this same logic to maschine and it works you just have to play around with the panning and eq and pitch your drums actually, with the maschine its easy after you learn the layout of where everything is just like he does on his MPC although it looks hella confusing on that thing. but i still prefer to buy an 2000xl someday thanks for the tips anyway man it helped me even though im on maschine

Hi Dubs, loving your videos, just recently got an MPC and keep coming back to your videos for inspiration. I can find one other tutorial on your website apart from this on on 'how to sample and make beats', but it's a dead link, anywhere I can still find it?

I don't know much about the effects on the MPC, but I would have added reverb to the drum arrangement, a very little amount of reverb so it would have a bit of a more natural sound to make up for the lack of vinyl artifacts. Other than that nice tutorial. Thumbs up for you.

A couple of questions: Stereo seperate is making them mono? Are you layering the mono and the stereo drums together? and with the frequency is that a 12db or 24 db low pass filter you're filtering with?
@CoinedBeatz11 жыл бұрын
nice work, really apreciate it. but how do you edit the sound without using the wheel?

@iromeku13 жыл бұрын
Excuse my ignorance, but why separate the two channels if they are both going to be sent out as mono hits to the DAW? What is the benefit of this as opposed to taking the kick with the higher frequency, layering it with itself and just filtering it? What is achieved by filtering 2 kicks with the LPF at different cutoffs as opposed to one?

why do u only record drums in mono...my mixer doesnt have that switch...would it be the same thing if i just pulled out one of the two inputs in the back of my mpc from the mixer?
@dubsbanger8 жыл бұрын
+Alexander Papachristos no it wouldnt be the same... often when youre playing drums off of a record into the mixer to sample into your mpc/computer there are different sounds from the left speaker to the right speaker... when you hit mono it automatically overlaps the two sides into one so the drums become much louder and punchy... same with the snare and hi hat also... this can only be achieved with a mono switch... if you dont have one on the face of your mixer then check the back of your mixer almost all mixers have a mono switch...

I hate that the MPC Studio doesn't have the params menu and doesn't let you change the frequency, there is other stuff replacing it but I don't know how to work with it/it's impossible to get the same results with it.. Have been experimenting so long with it but just can't manipulate my drums really good with the Studio, to get the result I'd want.
@dubsbanger8 жыл бұрын
+alexander look up some tutorials on drum compression and drum layering or drum equalizer for the mpc studio... is the studio stand alone or is it like a midi pad?
@Peets0018 жыл бұрын
Dubs Banger Thanks for the advice! The studio is more of a midi pad thingy, connected thru usb and works with the MPC software but you can control everything thru the studio, which gives it the standalone kind of feeling.
@dubsbanger8 жыл бұрын
***** yeah so youre going to have to layer your drums through the equalizer plug-in in your daw... i would suggest putting each drum through a graphic equalizer so you can seperate the low end the mid range and the high end separately...
@trevor_mounts_music7 жыл бұрын
The filter section is in the program parameters tab on the studio.
