Why doesn't anyone talk about the challenge of where we actually are in comparison to others with ability to pay players? I am not sure where we rank but my guess is that its bottom 25%. The "New World" has only made it much harder for us to compete; there are players on Blue Blood teams making more money than we can afford to pay our head coach (whomever that is). Surely WVU is used to doing more with less but with NIL that has exponentially increased in truth! Back to back 6-3 in Big12 in my opinion is huge accomplishment in this world. If Brown had Arch Manning and could afford a few other key pieces in the "Free Agency" market, do you think we could win more? I do! WVU fans need to temper their exceptions, except the reality of pay to play, and do everything we can to support doing more with less. I don't like it but this is the reality of college football now. To start over would only set us back even further and then with our budget, how do we catch up?

@@Goeers206 I would argue that the stats lie to you on his tenure. He’s currently 37-34 that’s 3 games above .500 we haven’t had a coach this poor performing since before Cignetti Sr. This season did not live up to the expectations that were set and sold by this coaching staff. Your argument depends on if we win Saturday and what happens when we don’t? What happens if we lose the bowl game? That’ll be Coach Browns 4th losing season in 6 years. Thats not the expectations of West Virginia. Even if we hit 7-6 that’s still not good enough for a 6 year head coach. We got to 6-3 by beating bottoms feeders of the conference again not good enough. Again that’s if we win and even then we’ll either be tied with 6 other teams for 3rd that’s not impressive. If we lose then we’re just into the middle to bottom of the Big 12 again not good enough.
@Goeers2063 күн бұрын
@Cepe_28 It's the same as you assuming we will lose both. Obviously, we have to see how it plays out, and the key word I used was "if". However, if it still stands, let's say he does get 8-5 with a bowl win and has two seasons back to back 6-3 in conference with back to back bowl wins, and he still gets fired, how can we be certain it will be better? For all we know we could be in the same boat we were when we fired Stewart when he had 9 wins every year and people cried saying it wasn't good enough and we got a lesser coach and a worse field product. The point is, there is no guarantee a new coach will be better than what Brown has done if he does finish 8-5. Is it really worth blowing multi millions on a buyout for something that may not be better instead of just letting him play out his last two years and see what happens. We go 6-7 sure I can see it, we win out I and alot of others feel it would just be wasted resources with revenue sharing just around the corner to fire after 9-4 and 8-5 with two bowl wins.

I’ve been as critical of Brown as much as the next fan, especially this year, but I’m all for giving Brown ONE more year for the simple fact that it’s finally Nicco’s team. I know GG is a fan favorite and I agree he plays hard but let’s get real, he’s NOT a QB. We have to look at what Nicco has brought to the table when either called in early in games or starting….dude just wins and stats don’t mean everything. Idc if GG”runs wild” giving up more than 30 points on crucial games due to ugly turnovers can be and is a difference maker. IMO Nicco has much better command of this team than GG and it’s not even close…..ONE more year with Nicco at the helm then let the chips fall where they may

First snap against Penn… 24 pts from his TO’s between Iowa state and KS…his situational skills at the position lacks big time. I do t dislike him I just never thought he’s a “starting” QB. @chicagobears654 And look at how many busted routes that arnt on him lead to some of those turn overs and how many times he hit one of our recievers right in the numbers and they dropped the passes. 6-3 in a weak big 12 without Texas and Oklahoma does not impress me. It’s very obvious that the conference got much easier for middle of the Pac teams to compete with Texas and Oklahoma gone. That also impacts the recruiting of the big 12 some high-level players might not want to come because there isn’t schools like Texas and Oklahoma anymore.
