I rebuilt my ducati 848evos engine. was quite fun. Lapped the valves. Replaced the cylinders and pistons. did all the Services on the bike. Came out great. I found Your videos helpful, Along with the Service manual.

@peterbee88 I didn't split the case the bottom end looked great on my bike. Also cross Hatching has several Purposes. One is to help break in the rings. 2nd is hold small amounts of oil for the rings to glide over.

build top end 750 and didn't had the Texa tool for Hz or other, tried with the Gates app but wasn't consistent at multiple pinches and did the 5 hex allen key method. worked perfectly, no w 3 years later still runs and belts i thnk are even cracked now, he didn't want to change literally anything, had a bolt washer dopped into the cylinder when someone did the periodic maintenance.. great videos

There are many ways to measure the belts, I should do a video about them sometime. You do come across some owners who will spend nothing on the bikes and somehow they survive without failure 😊

@@DesmoWerx yeah :)), the piston however is like it's been in a crushing machine of course, that washer was kind of large, funny it didn't bent the rod or cracked the head. It got stuck to the chamber, it's been in my shop in 2023-2024 and still haven't got time to make the video with it :)) hopefully soon

It fulfills a number of functions, 1 While creating it the tool it breaks the glaze from the previous operation, 2 it allows a surface to bed new rings in, 3 it allows the cylinder walls to hold some oil for lubrication

Sometimes I see Ducati workshops put a lot of effort into "timing the cam wheels", adjusting a few degrees forwards/back. What's that about?

That would be to optimise the timing, either by advancing or retarding it depending on cam settings.
