Amazing to hear it's easier to ride than the S. I rode the S with the full system at Mugello, It was my first time on a proper modern superbike and first time riding on the track in over 2 years. The way the S handled and how the systems worked really made it easy for me to get up to speed. I was totally wrecked in terms of being sore by the early afternoon but still managed a 2:07 at one point. Your body takes a beating, but if the R is even more agile and even easier to get on with.....I really really want to swing a leg over one at Mugello one day.
@Hatred_in_Your_mind6 жыл бұрын
Compare the 2 bikes, The S & the R. The R has different suspension . It has a adjustable swing arm pivot. ( who knows what that will do for you ) It has 2 holes cut in the frame. ( Time for my Plasma cutter) It has wings. A taller windscreen . ( I have that on my V4S) and a different cowling. So where does all this magic performance come from ???
@StatementPlus6 жыл бұрын
@@Hatred_in_Your_mind I think it's mainly in how the power is delivered. In race mode the S is too much down low. Even on the track with Melandri as my instructor we all used sport mode. With the R I think it can put the power down better and the weight reduction helps. I'm sure there are some other geometry changes that help the R over the S. I'll let you know after May next year when I do the DRE. They are using the V4R :)

Happy New year Neeves. Just wanted to know how the ergos are on the bike? I always get concern that a bike has 600cc-like tight ergos (which makes it difficult for anyone taller than Pedrosa to obtain optimal body position in the corners, without upsetting the stability of the bike), when the bike is advertised at maximal lean angle in every shot. As a matter of fact, the only footage of you (and the rest of the photo journalist contingency ) on the bike is in a corner at max lean angle with you hanging off the bike. Otherwise, the POV is through the windscreen. Do you have any footage of you sitting in a neutral position, upright on the bike, so that the cockpit size can be gauged?
@neevesybikes6 жыл бұрын
Sheesh there are a few long term test videos here where you should be able to see the V4’s riding position, but in a nutshell it’s like this for a six footer, like me: lots of legroom, relatively comfy seat for a few hours and good wind protection. But there’s lots of weight on your wrists, which isn’t a problem at speed, but brutal the rest of the time!
@DeeDubyoooo6 жыл бұрын
Well I just sold my V4 speciale (I took a blood bath on the deal) and put a deposit down on the V4R. From what you are saying, compared to the speciale, the ergos have been altered to create an even more compact triangle. I may have to re-think this move for 2 reasons: 1) Allow the Corse team to get data from 2019 racing season and purchase the bike with the updated corrections/mods (besides, there is no way that FIM will allow the wings to be in that configuration for 2020 race season). 2) if the value of Ducati bikes have such a high rate of depreciation, it may not be worth the purchase, unless the bike is kept for life (when I sold my 2010 BMW S1000RR in 2015, I sold it for a $1000.00 more than what I paid. I lost $20,000 form the original total purchase price on this deal with the speciale). Hey Neeves, when you do your bike shootouts/ comparisons, can you add the categories resale value/ depreciation rate” and reliability rating, to your bike reviews? These categories may be the most influential variables to encourage the manufacturers to put out a quality product (with limited recalls and other annoyances that should be avoided before the bike leaves the factory). Thanks again for your valuable, thorough and informative reviews... !!!

I think the reason why the winglets on this are banned on GP bikes is because they are rather open and exposed as a safety concern, compared to the GP bike, not much for aerodynamics. In the aviation world, that type of wing would have vortices at the tips, causing more drag. However, having closed wingtips like the GP bike would probably be a huge advantage as there aren't ay wingtip vortices to worry about. I'm sure that the vortices generated from these wings aid in the laminar flow of the air across the body and thus improve overall bike and rider aerodynamics.

Anyone looking at this bike must consider what he is saying. This bike has a 2 stroke power band. QUOTE !! " when it hits it hits hard " "The power is down at the lower rpm's & that helps to not twist the frame " So no bottom end power & then the 2 stroke power band kicks in & hang on " Isn't that the issue with the 1299 ?? Also stated " there are many liter bikes that are easier to ride " Same thing again as the 1299. The Superbike will be far different than the 500 sold to John Doe !! Also the 2 ring piston & running to 16,000 rpm's is for sure a far less life engine. This is the same thing as the final addition 1299. No bottom end to sell a higher hp figure . Ducati is selling everyone out as the final edition did. I will show the dyno runs with that engine compared to the 1299 S engine .

As great this new bike is, I really can't fall in love with any sport/supersport/race replica that hasnt got twin spar frame of any kind(steel trellis/aluminum spars). GP racing has taught us thus far that there is no analogue of twin spar chassis. Monocoques or semi spars just dont cut it at the highest level. Anyways, best of luck to Ducati for their WSBK efforts against the GOAT Jonny Rea. PS: Ducati also had the most WSBK titles when they had their own version of the twin spar i.e., steel trellis frame. Dumping it for the monocoque was a big mistake, IMO.

Bike is crap,I have one.After 4 recalls,now have to have the oil cooler changed as mine is pissing oil out.Also,another recall on to check the cam chain tensioner as these can come loose and spray oil everywhere.The clutch needs bleeding every couple of hundred miles,but now,there is yet another recall coming to change the clutch line!.My v4 has sat in the garage leaking oil for 7 weeks waiting for Ducati to sort it,it’s spent more time at the dealers than riding it.

paul wren no kidding? Sorry to hear this! I just traded my ‘13 hypermotard off for a Honda 1000RR. Never liked it, had problems with the Duc, glad to be back on a Honda. Hopefully things get sorted for you!

at 231 hp, why does this not have Carbon brakes...even as an option? This is very much a GP bike!
@Hatred_in_Your_mind6 жыл бұрын
Because carbon brakes takes 900 deg to work.
@sidb95405 жыл бұрын
@Rob M CArbon brakes have been around the GP bikes since at least 2010.. these bikes had wayy less power back then..

This bike is decimating everything in WSBK. Dont think anyone can stop a Ducati except Honda. Now Honda needs to reply Italians with their own V4 i.e., RVF1000R.

Ducati's +230 hp is probably ~195 hp at the rear wheel. I mean, it's till more than I can handle...

Just like any other bike. But 170 kilo and even less with a race exhaust is amazing power to weight ratio

Our 212bhp (claimed) V4 S made 199bhp at the back wheel, so this with the pipe should make a fair chunk more.

Look I'm tired of hearing this BS. I read & watched every dyno run on KZbin. I only ever seen one that read 200 hp & that was with the Aro Exh. The rest with the Acr Exh. was well below that. I own a V4S 7 would to believe that but to many REAL dyno's say otherwise. Tell Ducati to re-calibrate there dyno . @@neevesybikes

Pankl con rods aye? Pankl is owned by Pierer Industrie AG, who own KTM as well. Could there be a possible relationship between Ducati and KTM? Interesting possibility. Whatever the case, this bike belongs on Porn Hub.

I'm not criticising, but I've heard it alot now, has anyone tested V4R's bhp on wheel at any Dyno..?? Yet.... PS: Coz this 234BHP from a 1000CC road legal bike without any turbo seems "A LOT"
@neevesybikes6 жыл бұрын
Avneesh Singh Tomar standard V4 with stock exhaust makes 199bhp at the rear wheel on our dyno, which is around 212bhp at the crank, so figures sound about right.

@@neevesybikes yea, thanks man, but this V4R is 100cc less in capacity. So I'm wondering how in this world Ducati made more HP (20) by reducing engine size.... 🤔🤔

@Prabhakar Mark those improvements in Kawasaki helped it improve its figures by just under 3bhp not 20 or 30.... ZX10R now makes 200.... I'm curious and someone will soon Dyno this beast to reveal all....🤗

The rules say 500 need to be sold. Side by side what does the rules require or allow to be different in the 500 sold to John Doe public & the factory racers. Different cams ? different intakes, different electronics, different shocks, different forks , different swingarm ? different brakes for sure, different gas tank , . for sure different gearing that's why they push it to get it moving in first. that saves the clutch. Also some of the hp gains is in the dry clutch. I am 110% sure there is very little the same with this bike & the Superbike they race. Don't think your getting a Superbike.
