I love my Fred Flinstone 2018 V4S,it was nearly new when I bought it and after the 1198 I had before it nearly rides itself which I appreciate is a negative for some folk but I find it hard to grasp how Ducati have progressively made it easier to ride,does it put your riding gear away and make your tea for you now?!,but seriously this is very exciting indeed,the negative of the easy to ride thing is that you can achieve ballistic speeds without realising very easily indeed,it's fast and then some.

I have a 1098 and 1198.... I hate that it's turned into a bmw now. No character and not raw. Great for track but it basically rides for you. I wish they listened to people like Stoner rather than just being electronic focused with tunnel vision.
@grahamsmith20223 ай бұрын
@damansbedi it's not a BMW bud as you know but it is faster for riders that aren't Casey Stoner or Alvaro Bautista, on the road in comparison the 1198 is a total pain unless you're on clear road and doing 70+mph. There's many political and technical reasons for the V4 coming along and riders of other brands will immediately feel at home on one but,it is a better bike in every way as progress dictates but I agree that for raw,visceral brute force and thoroughbred bad tempered 'ride hard or go home' riding then other than the Superleggera Panigale,the old machines have it.......if you're in the mood,obviously on a race track it's a different application.
@rohanalias90533 ай бұрын
That is crazy because the first iteration of the V4 panigale was hard to ride for many.....ducati made it easier by 2023
@grahamsmith20223 ай бұрын
@rohanalias9053 trust me,after the 1198 it's a complete breeze, somehow it manages to be faster,lighter,better handling ,more forgiving, supple and most incredible of all it's comfortable to ride,it's mind boggling that this bike was developed from a race bike.The 1198 family felt like a race bike on the road in a bad way although as i say on the open road,on smooth tarmac at high speed it was fabulous,at low speed in a convoy of crawling cars,lorries etc it was a painful chore.

The aids helping a less experienced driver be safer and faster while perfecting their craft makes sense, however, I don't agree in the bike being setup to be faster with the aids when you are an experienced rider. In that situation they should provide a level of safety if you want it but ultimately the bike should be designed and setup in such a way that it would be fastest with all the aids off. It is a pure bred machine and you should earn the right to get the most out of it while being safe at a lower experience level. That is what performance riding/driving is about, working with the machine as an integral part of it, being in that deep flow state with your focus on nothing else. It is the petrol head's meditation.

While this is a very stunning machine, it really sounds like the introduction of AI being introduced to motorcycles. I see the comments in regards to the legendary video of the K5 Vs v4, and the biggest thing I took away from that video was rider vs machine. If you even go back and watch, look at the K5 riders reaction when he finished his laps. He was so pumped, he said I don’t care if I won or lost that was so fun. Now I’m by far no expert, no MotoGP rider or wannabe, but it sounds like this bike is doing most of the work, at what point does rider skill come in to play? That was also a major difference in that video, the K5 rider had no aides. Oddly enough I’m Michael’s comparison between Panigale and BMW where he had a pro rider do laps on both with and without rider aides the BMW came out onto top in both, but more importantly without rider aides the lap times were faster. This easy to ride point, is it really a good thing, especially here in the US where as long as your pockets are deep enough once you get your license your free to get what ever you want. I know I’m gonna get thrashed, just a few thoughts, but great review nonetheless.
