Amazing how you do it very creative and fast. Do you know what is the closest way to do something similar to this type of 3D sketching in Zbrush other than using Zsphere type of sketch because it's so spherich looking during the sculpt and its hard to see the forms unless you convert it back and forth which is very annoying
@AntonTenitsky6 жыл бұрын
i have a video on Zbrush shadowbox but 3D Coat is the only software that allows to sculpt with voxels and thats unique

This kind of stuff is never going to be possible in zbrush due to how its tied to its outdated pixol technology.

thank you for the video. How exactly did you manage to sculpt in mid air like at 4:30 ? For me it seems I am only able to sculpt on the base model.
@AntonTenitsky4 жыл бұрын
the video is a bit old. Unfortunately they changed the brush behaviour. Now you need to use 2D Paint with "Plane defined during Paint" to achieve the save result.
@Julian-B4 жыл бұрын
@@AntonTenitsky thank you for your response. The brush behavior is different indeed, even with your suggested 2D paint settings. sometimes the brush snaps very far away and draws the voxels with it. Screenshot of what I just tried: imgur.com/a/qVju19U

Thanks for the video - I'm using the newest version of 3D Coat - I can't replicate the effect you're getting when you start sculpting... my sphere looks to be lower res, and the "Carve" brush simply creates LOTS of little visible polygons rather than the relatively smooth effect you're achieving. Any idea how to improve this?
@AntonTenitsky5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, sounds a bit weird. I have 4.28 atm and I don't have those issues. Can you start with a low resolution ball and square brush dragging it outside the ball?
@androidfarmer88635 жыл бұрын
@@AntonTenitsky Thanks for the quick reply! I'm assuming you mean beginning the drag on the ball? If not, I don't know how to do that (still new to 3DC). But when I start with the low resolution ball and drag from the ball, it creates geometry, but as noted, it's really noisy. I'm running 4.8.25 on PC. (Have a Mac too but haven't installed.)
@AntonTenitsky5 жыл бұрын
@@androidfarmer8863 yeah dragging out from the ball. It will be very noisy you then need to use cut tool to clean up a bit. But it's hard to know without seeing a screenshot

depth percentage is the brush strength against the surface and depth limit is the maximun cutting limit. Say it can't cut below 3 units.

curious how you think this program compares to zbrush if goal is concept art, which is quicker/ easier to get what is on your mind into the computer
@AntonTenitsky7 жыл бұрын
I think 3D Coat is much better than Zbrush for concept art, hardsurface specifically. You can split objects on a fly, very easy to cut, make holes, shapes. Very easy to iterate. It's much easier to deal with hundreds of layers there than with subtools in Zbrush. I just wouldn't have been able to make this gun - www.artstation.com/artwork/DK5zy in Zbrush, for instance. Zbrush is better if you need to get 100% production ready high-poly with live booleans and poly tools. Also, I still do organic sculpting in Zbrush, it's just I've had so many years of experience of doing it there that I couldn't really switch.
@danielwalton84757 жыл бұрын
thanks! I'm looking to learn one mainly just for personal projects/ ideation so from everything I've seen, 3d coat is the one for that

I think ZBrush last update closed the gap on hard surface. I do think overall 3d coat is better for concept because of the painting tools. 3d coat texturing is way ahead ZBrush, but ZBrush brush engine is top of the line. Zbrush to this day still dont have a smoth modifier and and uv texture painting
