Such beautiful jewelry pieces, and the history is very interesting. The present Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are my favorite royals (they are dutiful, kind, and stay away fron scandal) and Alice was a very attractive woman. I hear she was a bit shy but down to earth and free from snobbishness. She traveled a lot before her marriage and was really very knowledgeable.

The three tiaras shown are simply magnificent but the Cartier Indian Tiara is a show stopper followed by the turquoise and diamond tiara and the Honeysuckle tiara.

The Cartier India Tiara is really stunning. And I really like the Duke and Duchess of Gloucestershire. They were just at the garden party with the King and Queen, at Buckingham Palace.

My great concern will be… when the presents duke an duchess pass on…These amazing historical pieces are most likely going to be sold… The present thinking of our Gracious King… is not to add anything to the Royal Collection and these totally stunning pieces will get sold into collection over seas… never to be seen again.. The Gloucesters could avoid Inheritance Tax buy…Gifting these jewels to The Royal Collection…And could keep them till they’re passing. BUT they will want to leave their children the money they are worth….I understand that. Such a shame.

Does anyone know the origin of the now old-fashioned style of royal waving, in which the wrist is rotated and the hand moved in a 'throwing' motion? Is it based on the aristocracy throwing morsels of food to the ordinary folk?

Its done that way for 2 reasons. 1- waving enthusiastically was considered common and 2- waving that way is energy efficient. Think about how much they wave and u will realise their arms will get tired quickly if they wave in a more normal, everyday style.

I also believe this gesture is not considered offensive in any culture as some other forms of waving are.
