My regular doctors refused to operate on my hips until I couldn’t get up the stairs into my own bed or use the toilet anymore. Contrary to what a lot of people think, doctors aren’t universally kind and ethical, and a lot of them make very dangerous decisions. Ableism in the medical profession is no joke. My heart goes out to you

Also, my original surgery dates were postponed because of COVID, meanwhile my entire life had ground to a halt. If they had been postponed again or if the specialist I finally saw didn’t agree it was an emergency, I don’t know if I would still be here today. I just found your channel, but god, Paige, I am so, so sorry. Neither of us deserved this treatment.

One tip I've heard from someone is that if you have issues such as chest or stomach pain and want it to be taken seriously, NEVER tell them that you suffer from anxiety or depression! Or else they'll just attribute all of your symptoms to that and just tell you to "drink a tea and sleep it off" Ableism really is real and it's an issue..

I'm so sorry all of is happening to you. I really hope everything starts going for the better. Digestive system problems are no joke. And yes health care here in the US is bollocks expensive.I had surgery earlier this year from a motorcycle accident, the bill was $130,000. Like i said, i hope you find some type of comfort and peace with my comment. And as unlikely as it may seem sometimes, you will pull through this and be free of these problems. Well, KZbin recommended your channel after I have exhausted all the videos in my feed for 7 months unable to work because of my EYES CORNEA damaged due to scabies infestation since 8 years ago. Hope you recovers. I can only see with magnifying glasses 3 cm from the phone and half the time is burry, I can only guess the worlds, went to a few specialists but they have not encounters my kind of scenario and nothing they can do except put on contact lens to prevent it from further damage, although I am in the final stage of recevery but there is no guarantees that it will heal completely. Devastating, yes because it means live or die if I cannot work otherwise become financial burden to family bembers. So, you are not alone and I am not ordinary person, I am highly skilled multi disciplined commercial artist with over 30 years of experience. Wait, your Canadian!? I never thought our Healthcare sucked that much- Than again, I've never personally had a truly bad experience with the Healthcare system as I barely ever need doctors. Although I will admit, the waiting rooms are awful. Such as an instance a few months ago where I tried to take my life by chugging chemicals, when I ended up at the hospital they made me wait for an hour with just my mom before helping me. Which is fine, they probably had more serious things to deal with. But seriously, what you've had to experience with the Healthcare system is just awful. I had similar symptoms and I also had bloodtest, endoskopy etc. etc. Most doctors just sent me home with NOTHING. But I couldn't ever take it for 7 years. I only took it for 1 year, after humiliating situations in public and constant pain EVERY DAY and took things into my own hands. I gladly had some help of my friend who studies medicine. I still take linseeds and Probiotics to help digesting. Turns out I have celiac disease and everything went abruptly better since I don't eat gluten anymore. Even the blaoted belly I had for around 3 years went away immediatelly. Just when I told my doctor about my assumptions, he would make an actual test for celiac disease for me.

For a comparison, I live in the US and got my endoscopy 2 days after my first phone call to a doctor. I also got a bunch of other test, but ultimately got a bunch of PPIs for my troubles, which, sadly, didn't help. The laughing, condescending, apathetic doctors is universal, but the long waits are not.

My mother had to deal with an utter quack doctor as well, who straight up told her, her visible, PROVABLE issues with her back/spine DIDN’T EXIST! Thankfully she was able to find other doctors, but that utter piece of garbage is still working in the medical industry! Maybe, you can start a Go Fund Me, that could help bring some of the needed money for treatment in the U.S.A. Either way, you shouldn’t have to deal with these utter pieces of garbage! It’s not okay, and I wish that kind of patients treatment was illegal!

Okay, I went through negligence from my neurologist (if he had done his job I probably wouldn’t be bed ridden rn) if you ever have a bad doctor, switch, switch hospitals if you need, switch the doctors, if they’re giving you major bad vibes, and red flags switch, please do not let yourself go through it, he dropped your case, change them, please, it is vital you do not stay with that doctor, easiest way to change specialist, get a new referral, and make sure it’s not the same doc (it says it on the referral)

I'm really sorry to hear what you've been going through. It's something I can relate to a lot, having gone through a similar (though thankfully not as prolonged) experience three years ago. I had regular nosebleeds that lasted over an hour and a constantly blocked nose, and heard a similar response to you when seeing an ENT and having my nose examined, that he could see inflammation but couldn't figure out a cause. Several months after that I also developed severe pain in my feet and joins that got worse over time. Here in the UK we are in a similar position where a lot of healthcare is free but there are long waiting lists and it's difficult to get more obscure issues diagnosed. I was repeatedly told that I had reactive arthritis and should just "wait for it to clear up on its own" despite the pain getting progressively worse until I could barely move and strange red spots appearing all over my skin. Ultimately I saw a private rheumatologist and by some miracle after I told him an off-hand comment about my nosebleeds in addition to the other symptoms he put two and two together and recommended I be tested for Vasculitis (specifically GPA), a rare condition where your immune system attacks your blood vessels. Lo and behold I test extremely positive for it and am immediately given a very high priority appointment at a specialist NHS hospital to check for organ damage and start a treatment plan. It was so bizarre going from nobody taking me seriously to it being treated with the urgency it warranted almost overnight. Im happy to say that it was caught early enough to prevent organ damage and the treatment, though long and challenging, was ultimately a success and I have been in remission for around two years. Its a lifelong condition that can always return but I am in a good place. I can only hope that you can receive answers and get the treatment and answers you need as well. I know what it feels like when doctors aren't taking you seriously and how shitty it feels when they are almost gaslighting you about the pain you are in and what you are going through. But for me it did get better, and hopefully it can for you as well.

For years I was struggling with gastrointestinal issues and my doctors told me he was just reflux over and over and over again until last year when I had a near-death experience and got formally diagnosed with gastroparesis. It was one of the most traumatic things that has ever happened to me medically and I understand entirely how you feel and this is horrible you are so strong and I'm so proud of you. Personally I am disabled forever ever since this horrible event and I wish people understood the absolute traumatic ways your body can be affected by this Also it's very strange how people treat gastrointestinal issues as a one cure all when it's really not that simple.... The amount of times I've been to the emergency room for the pain I can't even count. And I understand what you mean by wanting your wife to take your life because of the amount of pain you are in, when I was very sick from my gastroparesis episode I couldn't stop vomiting for weeks maybe a month or two even and I felt so weak and useless and I just wanted to be put out of my misery. Chronic illness affects mental health and I wish people understood this

First off, if I could seriously give you a big hug I would (with consent lol ;_;). You are precious, valuable, and so fucking valid. I know exactly how you feel with this topic, for me it’s been 5 years, and worse they knew what was wrong but did nothing about it. I was told to drink water and lose weight. I’ve developed CPTSD because of the abusive/gaslighting tactics I’ve endured at many Hospitals and doctors offices here in America. For some reason it’s normalized and it’s continued harm has slowly crippled/killed patients, like ourselves, and it needs to stop. What I’ve started doing to get some power back are things like: 1) Holding doctors and their offices accountable every time by having someone a 3rd party on phone calls, at appointments, recording phone conversations with them (in case they try to lie or stall), and talk to the pharmacy about medication interactions when having issues (they’re not doctors but they have a background in medicine and that knowledge helps as a second opinion). 2) Take your own vitals and notes cause it helps check for patterns. It can also aid you in your own research to narrow down possible diagnosis to test for. 3) Most Important: Ask for your full medical records. Odds are you may find you were already diagnosed with something, it was already written down and was grossly ignored by medical staff for this long 4) lastly, Know you have every right to contact specialists institutions or try clinical trials for help. And if those med-holes aren’t even trying to help you get better, drop those fools and surround yourself with people who will. It maybe awhile but it’s important to find medical help that want to help you get better. If you’ve been doing stuff like this already, then sorry for the long comment, and feel free to ignore me ^_^; Tl;dr You’re valid, you’re doing your best in an awful situation, and I pray you get the help and care you absolutely deserve, so you may live your best life.

I got early signs of GERD because of too much homeworks, assignments, and tests in highschool, as a result I usually pull up an all nighter for almost half a year. In these times I skipped breakfast, ate late lunches and eat midnight snacks basically, my food schedule is a wreck. One day, out of nowhere I feel like the air I breathe in doesn't arrive to my lungs, I feel like I'm suffocating in a perfectly normal air condition, I legit almost passed out but cling with every last strand of my willpower to stay awake because I know if I fell unconscious right then and there I'm 100% sure I wouldn't wake up again. The next week, my family took me to the gastronomy doctor and they determined the acid has gone and enter my lungs, therefore suffocating me in the process which sucks, they prescribed me a drug called Lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor and yes it doesn't really fix my stomach, but then I tried to fix my eating schedule. With these 2 solution I began to heal slowly and although yes there are some days that the acid would literally jump out from my stomach and burns my throat, I tried to hold the pain and continue eating with the schedule. It has been 5 months now and my symptoms are getting better a bit, with this in mind I recommend eating with a schedule also eat some specific food that is neutral to the stomach. I hope you will find the solution to this and have a speedy recovery, stay safe!

The solution to your problem is to fly to Europa, get a visum and health insurance. Then get proper Help, get Better, make sight seeing and still save more Money compared to what you pay there.

Doctors are supposed to help you, and I’m so sorry that they didn’t. There are some good doctors and some bad ones and I’m sorry that a bad doctor had the chance to treat you this way, you deserve much much better.

Canadian medical or any kind of hospitality is just a crap. If it gets really bad, fly yourself to Korea, I know it can be pricy but they will help you with this problem within not even a month with ACTUAL professionalism. I was super disappointed coming to Canada with their poor poooor medical trainings.

i know the quote that everyone says, no such thing as a free lunch, blah blah. while anything ‘free’ will come with a consequence, this is straight up ignorance on the doctor’s part. even for free healthcare this is unbelievable and straight up neglect. you don’t deserve this. things might have changed (2 months late to the video, not very up-to-date) but if not I hope the best of luck for you to get the treatment you need.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your. I know you're story is way worse so I wont be able to to fully understand but I do to some degree understand what you're going through. I'm 24 now and when I was 17 in my last year of high school one day I was throwing up a lot and missed school for a good while and never understood what was happening to me. I almost didn't graduate because of it. I went to doctors, ran many test and they could not find what was wrong with me. For many years maybe 5+ I've been dealing with throwing up and lost weight. I also had bowel movement issues. All those years and doctors still couldn't find what was wrong because test came out fine. I was beginning to lose hope. I would cry and pray to make this go away. I wouldn't want to leave my house, couldn't hold a job or go to college. My family didn't help until one day my sister advise me to go seek a therapist. I thought "there's no way what I'm feeling is linked to my mental health. For awhile I said no but then I decided to try it and see maybe it can help. Load and behold it was because I was dealing with anxiety. It really shocked me and began to work on bettering myself mentally. I've thankfully gotten better but I do have days, weeks and even months where It bothers me but I'm more in control. I'm sharing this with you because I know its different situations entirely but I hope you stay strong and really tell yourself that you are a strong person. Keeping fighting I know it can be exhausting but in the end it will get better. If you haven't already also try to seek a therapist yourself to help your own mental health through this but it is your choice :)

absolutely terrible. i have so many gripes with the healthcare system where i live in similar ways. just bc its affordable suddenly means, to doctors, that the general public isnt allowed any treatment unless you are visibly dying right then and there?? its inhumane and drives me more crazy than anything. knowing that these assholes that brag about their medical degrees and COULD save lives more frequent than they do, just do not, for whatever fucking reason. sucks to hear about this, you are one of my favorite youtubers and i love your content and genuinely wanna see you grow big,. fully understandable if you ever need to take a day off or postpone uploading. wish there was something we viewers could do to help but such is the way i guess :/ hope at least venting helped even a little !

The healthcare here in America isn’t really any better, like why should I or my family have to pay for a surgery to keep me alive? It’s crazy how money hungry the government is that it’s almost laughable.

That's horrible. I relly wish I could help you with some money but I'm a minor and I can't do that right now. Healthcare relly failed you, a lot. That doctor deserves jail for such negligence, this is torture, I don't know how but I do hope you can seek that expensive private healthcare somehow. Or at least the doctors you are going DO something usefull. I'm relly sorry for you and hope you the best. Also I think you should stop taking that medicine, those long therm effects are relly causing more harm than good

In my own experience I've been having this problem which is not as severe but still worrying, my head will ferociously itch very badly to the point where it gets painful. I've had this problem for almost 2 years now and doctors prescribed me steroids that are meant for uses in small areas and they wanted me to use it across my entire scalp(ps it said do not use on scalp or armpits when I received it) and those are not safe doses and I wanted a re-evaluation and then they told me I might just be making it up and that it might be a mental problem. Like B**** my suffering doesn't feel like im making it up or a mental problem I just want my head to stop itching so I can be the person I once was.

Hearing how desperate you are and in what kind of pain, I looked into the whole malpractice thing in Canada. You can go to the police about it, and they will open a case. It will go to court, and you are there as a witness too. Or you can go to the many lawyers that are specialized on this kind of thing and many have free consultations or things like "only pay if we win" and then u have money anyway. I urge you to go this route, knowing it will be even more exhausting for you, but this even might give you money to get a better doctor, if you can't go to another public one?! I wish I could help you directly because injustice and the suffering of others makes me violently angry and sick. Furthermore, I wish you all the best...

I understand this was a long time ago, and I'm not sure if you were able to get a call in with the "specialist" but I really hope you doing at least a little better. I'm so sorry sunshine, you should not have to go through 7 years of misery and pain all because of a jerk ass(I can't even really call him this but)doctor. Stomach diseases aren't something to play around about and need immediate treatment. Honestly, I'm so proud of you for still being alive and being able to push on. It must be so scary to see yourself like this, the constant thought of, "When am I going to die?" is something horrible for people with terminal diseases and problems. I can't even imagine begging anyone I love to kill me because of pain. When I was little I was in and out of hospitals due to many health problems, and I was just a little girl so I didn't really understand what was wrong with me, I only knew I was hurting bad, but as an adult you know the severity of a situation and that must be the worst burden to have put on your shoulders. I will never understand how bad your situation really is, but I hope you can find some comfort in this knowing your not alone. A bit of topic and to brighten the mood, I love your art! As an artist myself you did an amazing job on this piece! All of your works are honestly masterpieces. I hope to be as good as you one day, working on improving my art with lots of practice. With all the love in the world, Beanie

So sorry this is happening to you. Is there any way for you to find a new doctor/ specialist in your region (though I understand if the answer is no, especially if you live in the US). As a kid I’ve had some problems with my gallbladder that caused simile issues with malabsorption and know people can have similar symptoms to what you’ve got (vomiting, blood in stool, low iron) from things like Crohn’s, liver problems (esophageal varicies), or IBS (not saying this is what you have since I’m not a doctor but an idiot online). Anyway, hopefully you get well soon or, at the very least, get some answers.
