The amount of education & info that you provide is incredibly valuable. An intelligent person recognizes value over vanity. Your videos are from a scientific standpoint which is often overlooked amongst our people. Many long/thick haired KZbinrs have genetics on their side. Some have damaged hair that has been repaired (or likely grown out) but viewers tend to be in awe of them.

I completely agree on representation especially for impressionable young girls who may not have the texture or length that's the stereotype of the natural hair community. Welcome back.We have the exact same hair and I learnt alot from your scientific based formulations and advice .I eventually got sister locks and don't use much product anymore .I have never been able to find a moisturizer for my locks especially in the texas heat where everything drys out from the AC.I hope you can come up with something for locd sisters like myself.You have grown even more beautiful while you were gone.

I’ve been subscribed to your channel for a long time. Since I was in college back in 2008/2009. Your videos were very helpful to me starting out in my hair journey, learning about different ingredients and methods of caring for hair. I really enjoyed your videos about the science of hair and formulating hair products. I appreciate that you’ve shared your journey and the challenges you’ve experienced. Thanks Courtney and you are spot on with the natural hair community especially on youtube. I tend to be unconventional in how I care for my hair and refuse to hop on the wagon of the next shiny product so most people assume I have no idea what I'm talking about. Also, sadly, we have been sold a scam that all natural hair is either that loose curl and/or extremely thick. The diversity of textures, lengths and densities is completely lost. In this world if you have long hair you automatically are knowledgable on hair care and if you don't, well, what can you possibly know. When you zoom out it's completely wrapped logic and pits us (black women) against each other by sowing division and texture discrimination that we perpetuate. It's a tragic reality. Hopefully you're on the path to recover with the minor heat damage. I've been there and working my way back too. Thank you for watching, and rambling lol... made my day ;)

@@duchessgabrielle I don’t use any products. I just shampoo and go! locs are so easy but Sisterlocks are the best because they are so tiny and you can style them many different ways. I think what gives me volume now is that once your hair is loced, there is no more combing or manipulation and Sisterlocks in general are designed to give you thicknesses especially when you go to an experienced loctician who knows how to create your locs in a way that hides the low density.

I'm really happy to see someone with hair that's close to what mine looks like, because I've always thought that people with long hair can use any products because their hair will grow long no matter what they use, so their haircare products really doesn't prove that it will grow hair like yours or mine. Anyone that measures intelligence by hair length and or porosity is very unintelligent so please do not let comments like that affect you. It's sad to know that black people can be prejudice against each other, that's why it's so difficult for us as a people to move forward. Even just look realistically at the world, women from impoverished regions who do not have access to endless products and tools, still grow hair to the ankles. So much so that their hair is now a billion dollar industry globally. This is absolute proof it's not about products. I have to laugh sometimes because I watch gurus swear by one product this week and another next week. First, a week (or worse, one try) is not enough to gauge if a product works and second, if we are to go by this believe then literally every product in the market works because there's someone on youtube claiming it works for them. Length and thickness is equated to being knowledgable on hair care. All the while setting impossible standards for those with different textures or densities. And setting up people eager to learn about hair care for failure and disappointment. I always say people should take what gurus, myself included, say with a grain of salt. We are experts only on our hair and nothing more.
