Great Hunt young Men! Not that you were having any problems killing ducks, but leave an obvious hole with no decoys right in front of you and they will land in it.😊 this my 55th waterfowl season, love your channel!

Thanks Stan! I really appreciate you watching! I wish we would've tried that just to see what they would've done. I thought by setting them tight like that we would've got them to land right on the downwind edge but it seemed like they almost wanted to land on the upwind side of the decoys

You guys crushed it. I have found that two groups of decoys with a large landing zone between the two always works better than one single wad of birds. If I go with a single wad it is always up wind of where I am sitting. Not that you needed to even make an adjustment but always curious when I see the wall of decoys with no landing zone. It would give you that extra 10 yards you were looking for. .02
@HokeOutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks brother! We definitely should've tried something like that, it felt like they were trying to land on the backside of the decoys which was right on top of us

You say you were scouting - are all these locations Public Land? I am from CA and hunt public but not shy to ask Landowners - any tips? All love your vids are fantastic!
@HokeOutdoorsАй бұрын
Thanks Michael! I'm pretty much hunting exclusively public up here but that's mainly cause there's not much water on private ground. If I ever came across a good private pond/marsh up here I would most definitely ask for permission! The main thing I've discovered about the public up here is that getting off the beaten path is the best way to find birds. Most everyone around these parts wants to hunt within 500 yards of the access so if you can get a mile back into an area there's a good chance that's where you'll find the birds!
@MichaelWinters-z7iАй бұрын
@@HokeOutdoors Great advice - I have this same thinking when it comes to big game. CA has A LOT of rivers with the CA Delta. truly an amazing waterway - I may have to go investigate and get out of the grasslands because it is a totally different style of Public hunting. Lots of boundaries and the people that know how to hunt know where to go! Again thank you for the perspective! Much Love
