Uncle Si misses the days that the drive-in movies were popular (even though he mostly paid attention to his wife, not the movie) and tries convincing the boys to help him open one of their own in town. Martin & John-David can’t get over Si’s unintentional trip to see “Ted” because he thought it would be a family movie. Godwin is excited to help someone else name their child and Martin’s twin's recent milestone has everyone giving him fatherly advice.

😂 My parents are eighty three and they don't answer their phones. Then the entire family calls me since I live closer to them when no one can reach them. The stories I could tell on house phones and cell phones with eighty year olds. I got a good answer, I'm thankful to our Lord for still having them here with us. God is good!

One issue in these last 20 or 30 yrs is scammers use the phone to call the elderly. A lot of these older folks just don't answer to keep those people away.

Si & Godwin are right about the fun of drive-in movies. Those of you who'd rather stream something on a device have *no clue* what you're missing...& frankly why would you express an opinion on an unknown? I remember the days our parents took us to the drive in and with five kids that was a great solution to watching a movie. We had so much fun, and I wish they would come back. Great show guys as always, y’all are so funny…JD your expressions are priceless.🤣 God Bless 👏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🤗🥰

As a teenager in the 70s, going to the Starlite Drive In movie theater was great fun. Usually, we'd go in groups, set in the back of the trucks in lawn chairs. Saturday night was the best. They always had a cartoon, then the feature movie. Halfway through, it was intermission time. They had more than a concession stand. It was closer to a restaurant. You went inside to order food, the chili cheeseburgers and fries with a giant chocolate malt were great. You could either take it back to your vehicle to eat, or they had picnic tables you could sit down and eat. That's what we generally did. They also had outdoor seating near the concession stand. Up in front of the cars, and under the giant screen was a play area for the kids. After the main feature, they'd have a "B" movie you could stay and watch. Usually a scary movie, or some weird sci-fi. That's when you got the buttered popcorn and a big coke. Those were the days.

Some drive- ins had a playground up front for the kids could play while the adults watched the movie. Ours had the best home made pizza.That was a clean night out.

Loved drive-in movies!! As a child my parents would make a huge grocery sack full of popcorn & we would go in our pajamas. It was so much fun!! As a teenager, like Si says, it was a party!!

We still have a drive in movie here in Calvert City, Kentucky & it’s always packed! They have the best cheeseburgers at the concession stand.

We have a drive in near us. We took our kids and watched two movies. We had to pay per person but it wasn’t much. We loved it! Drive ins are fun!! JD needs some adventure in his life!

There's a drive-in about 30 miles from me. Every weekend...PACKED. Audio is sent through a station on your radio. It's a great set up.

The ThunderBird drive-in movie theater. When our parents had to go Richway department store, A&P grocery store, and visit family members, going down the expressway in the evenings you could see that giant movie screen and the movies.

In New Braunfels, Texas, northeast of San Antonio, Texas, (Calm down, John David. The big ol women here ain't interested in Sasquatch) they use radio frequency to watch the movie in the drive in. No mosquitoes, no cold or heat, no problem.

There's still a drive-in at Memphis, TN. The sound is played over a radio station on the car radio so that you don't have to roll the window down for the speaker.

There are a few drive-ins in the U.S. But they are dwindling. One issue a few years ago was that drive-ins had to buy the expensive equipment because they did not receive the old reel film anymore. It drove a lot of drive-ins to close because they could not afford the 100k to buy this new equipment.

I’ll tell y’all something else about trigger . Roy rogers came to Jacksonville , Fla and bought the second trigger from Elmer Rudd here in Jackson ville and gave him the old trigger. True story. He lived down the road from me.

Drive-Ins are the best, because if someone says something funny you can hear the next line, NOT so if you are in a building. I have always loved Drive-Ins the best. I rarely go to the movies since there is no more Drive-Ins. Besides Hollywood quit making good movies.

Johnny D, There was a special screening several years ago of Jaws in a Float-In theatre in Austin, Texas. I couldn’t convince anyone to go sit in an inner tube in a lake to watch Jaws with me, but I thought it sounded fun…and creepy!

My grandfather (god rest his soul) did a very similar thing. My grandfather used to go to the theatre by himself after my grandmother passed. My grandfather went and saw Half Baked. According to him he thought he was going to see a cooking movie. He said that he watched the whole thing, and said that the best part about the movie was when the lady convinced Dave Chappell to quit smoking reefer! POL

I live in az they closed the drive in but in but salt lake city my hometown has a drive in theater still open throw that mattress in ur pick up and it's a fun time. Grew up doing that in 89 90ish.

I'm Anita: Hat in Church is a sign of disrespect. You should show respect in the House of God. On the kid wanting to wear a hat and not brush hair, brush your hair. Drive in as a kid was the only way we went. You could pop corn at home and take to save money when you had a lot of kids in family. I remember seeing people climb out of trunks of cars to not have to pay. Lol Make your kids sit lower in seats to get charged kid charge and not 12 or older charge. Lol Luv the Podcast. I am listening from the podcast from the start and I have heard a lot of talk about the Korea jacket with the dragon. Did he ever get the jacket? There are a lot of vintage jackets on eBay. Could one of those be similar?
