Ducks are the best garden helpers! I don't have as many ducks as you, but I built my duck house and run into the garden. They spend all winter with access to the garden to eat all the weeds I was too lazy to pull and find all the bugs for me. In the past when I only had 2 ducks, they lived in the garden full time during the summer after my plants were established. Since the don't scratch like chickens, they don't dig up the plants. And if I lose a head of lettuce or some green beans to them it's no big deal, they deserve a treat for all the work they do in the garden for me. They did a great job keeping the bugs off the plants. Great video!

We have a huge backyard in Texas, a 3/4 acre backyard homestead (in city limits) and this past year we added 2 ducks to our animal collection haha. They are great, they do a better job than chickens at pest control. We have 26 raised beds and a 20 foot tunnel greenhouse, those two ducks could go through everything in about 2 days. They did eat slugs and squash bugs.

"Release the Quacken," I like it! I usually ask, "Who let the ducks out? Bump, bum, bum, ba, bump. Who let the ducks out? " I've been doing the same thing with my flock. Bonus? They find slugs and slug eggs in the mulch. Heh heh heh. Note: try herding with a white stick - a poultry net pole is perfect, but even a white conductor's baton will do. Somehow, a white stick will get them moving in the correct direction; all I have to do is point it. I didn't have to train mine flock. If they are really skittish, I use two. Try it; you'll like it. (Works on geese, as well.)

The rain was helpful for them to be able to dig and swallow what they find. Next spring if you get a pair of goslings and pen them near the garden you can throw weeds you want to be removed to them. Geese are herbivores and will earn the tasty stuff. After a month or so when your vegetables are little bigger you can turn the geese loose in the garden and they will weed and fertilize. A good duck-herding stick is helpful. A 5 or 6-foot section of cane with a loop of plastic-coated cable attached to the thinner end- Mine was large enough to put both ends of the cable into the cane and glue it in with a wrapping of tape to secure it while it dried. The loop should be put in so that it is slightly curved, and being flexible doesn't hurt the little guys. If you make the loop just a little smaller than the ducks' bodies you can use it as a safe catchpole in case you need to catch one to medicate or clip its wings.

I'm always glad to see people today who still believe in God. The athiests have been bending over backwards the past few years to try and shut it all down, trying to shut down something that's been going on for thousands of years, something that major holidays like Christmas is based on, and national anthems like "God save the queen" and "God bless America", and government slogans like "In God we trust", and then there's the pope. They're trying to end all of that, trying to end so many traditions, make the whole world so unrecognizably different from how it's been continuously for numerous millenniums for shit's sake! They are so freakin itchy to want this new world to lack hope and wonder, and they're trying to have us all live in fear and hopelessness just to be "real". I say, whether it's real or not, whether they could be right for argument's sake, why are they trying to make our one time here without hope and wonder? If we are actually here just once, don't you think it would be better not to waste it throwing into other people's faces and having it constantly thrown in our faces how hopeless and ugly it all is?

Nov. 22, 2020---Interesting video in that it answers a question I had about ducks. Watched 3 or 4 other videos about ducks, but they were being used in harvested rice fields or wine producing countries such as India/S. Africa. There, they mainly eat bugs like snails dining on grape leaves. While I can see a useful function of ducks working over ones garden at the end of the growing season, wondered if any of your ducks have literally flown the coop. Have you clipped their wings?
