I have a 3 ton unit and just did these calculations and see that mine is at 19,622. A bit low I think.So, to the attic I go to measure the duct work. Filter is clean, Evaporator coils are clean also. My air handler is in the wall with a 27x22 air return in the living room. Not much area to increast the size of the return air duct and only have that one. It may be possible to bypass the filter and add a return air duct from the bedroom to the air plenum in the attic. Its hot down here in Texas and we miss every little bit of the air that we can get. Just watching another video and see how to calculate that average surface of the grilles. The guy used LxW/144. He used 3.5x9=31,5 Then divded by 144 = 0.21875. It worked for me.

What speed do you set the air handler on before checking fpm ours is set to 75% should I set to 100% to check fmp

I go with the manufacturer setting which is the setting that it comes set on and then I go from there I'm usually looking at the temperature split supply and return temperature. If the temperature split is more than 20ﾟ then I may increase the fan speed if the temperature split is less than 20ﾟ then I may increase the speed. Let me know if this makes sense if it doesn't then I'll go live and I'll talk to you.

@@TaddyDigest what one is increase and decrease? There was a typo. I had all the ductwork replaced and I don't beleave it is right at all. I was trying to figure out if the trunk and all the duct is the right size. I was trying to find someone with knowledge that I could give all the info to to see if it is right and if not I could correct what needs be.

Great advice. I’m not a havc tech however I found your video very interesting, Thanks... why’ll having a havc tech at my house replacing the A/C core he found that over 6 years ago when the new furnace was installed someone dropped a 90 degree gas ( iron) fitting in the exhaust side of furnace 😳. It was rusty as hell and contamination has been falling down inside the fan and throughout the small hoses and I see it’s clogged some orifices. Please advise. I am concerned about in the house air quality .😞

@@TaddyDigest yes dangerous for sure, The furnace company told me they would give me a free teardown and inspection I told him I want a new furnace it’s been running 5 1/2 years with that exhaust pipe that was 80% plugged.all of the rust from this iron fitting has been breaking down over time and has contaminated/restricted all the vacuum lines😢
