Can't wait to see how you do there. Was really hoping to bring a blown charger there this year, but big Army moved me away for this time. Hoping to bring it next year! That callout is going to be a good race!

Totally understand. Navy kept me away for years. A blown Charger would definitely see a lot of love at this event!

New subscriber and really enjoying your videos. I was doing similar work this weekend. As I was finishing up tired, dirty, bleeding, but weirdly satisfied and calm I was reminded of a favourite quote by an old timer mechanic who said this about fixing old cars... ".... it is by our care for a thing, rather than our need or desire for it, that we realize its intrinsic worth." I find this video very comforting.... Thank you.

Love the quote. Couldn’t agree more. It’s very rewarding to set out and complete tasks on a project. What project were you caring for this weekend?

I’m beyond excited to get that car home. Dave does good work and should make the rest of the build relatively straightforward for me. Not sure what the power plant will be but, I know the stock 318 will be gone.

Ended up not rebuilding the trans after an estimate doubled after drop off. This redline shockproof feels good. Hopefully it lasts a little while.

@sorta_stock is it running good enough to race or just running good? What does that car weigh with you
@sorta_stock3 ай бұрын
@@infamousnova it’s shifting at WOT again. I’m not sure what the race weight is. Not a whole lot of weight reduction here so, I’m assuming it’s close to 3200. Maybe a little more.

1969 How did you get the 30 inch O.D. Tire onto Car? did you set the axle Back?

It’s tubbed all the way to the frame rails with the axle shortened 3” and the springs moved inboard

So with that Duct Tape event, you have to drive that car there? Or can you trailer it?
@sorta_stock3 ай бұрын
Some drive but, most trailer their cars. Chances of breakage at this is event is VERY high. No one wants to be stuck in the desert with a widowed block.
@stevodakine13 ай бұрын
@@sorta_stock Thanks for clarifying that. For some reason, I was under the impression it needed to be driven to compete. I wouldn't drive my car that far, no way, for the same reason you wouldn't. Good luck out there.

@@stevodakine1 thanks Steve! One of these years I’ll drive a project to the event but, I would most-likely coordinate a way to get back ahead of time if something went south.

Maybe a bit too much traction Saturday. Awesome wheelie, but that couldn't have been good for the car. Sorry you broke at the end.

The trans was giving me fits. Need to yank it out and likely rebuild it. Pretty sure that 2nd gear is chewed up.
