@@eyeTHC Not necessarily, alligators are opportunistic and there are plenty of unfortunate incidents with them that lead to death. With that being said they normally don't go after humans with many incidents being due to mistaken identity. Example- (thrashing around in the water the gator might think your a fish or wounded animal). That doesn't mean they won't do nothing though. Depending on the gator it can easily go after humans if it wants and will most likely win if you aren't careful. Statistically unlikely but still a very real possibility. The father definitely did the right thing, warning the kid and not doing anything stupid. Though I wouldn't have peddled off so fast I would definitely calmy get away from the gator as to not push my luck.
