My mother bought a Dell when these commercials were playing in 1999. It was a Pentium III 933mhz, 128MB RAM, onboard video, and had a DVD drive, which was very new for the time. I used to play The Matrix and Terminator 2 on that PC all the time. The fact that I could run Quake 2 at 512x384 at a solid 58 frames per second with opengl enabled and vsync was quite awesome at the time.

@@imzjustplayin No, that Dell only had onboard video. Oddly enough, Quake 3 Arena could run at 640x480 at a solid 60fps with vsync on that same PC. It seemed to have a more efficient engine I guess.

2001? I was the one guy from 2000-2002 who actually fixed your problems and didn't use the simple drop-down question/answer repair questionnaire they used. The "L2" support tech. I also went against policy and sent a motherboard, processor, and power supply with techs and it fixed 98% of all tech support callbacks. Callbacks was a huge problem back then. Almost lost my job because of that, but there was nothing to verify which of the 3 caused the no power. It became such a big first time/angry callback successful repair, that Dell actually sent people from Austin to poach me from the call center I worked at (Delaware). Dell used to have a call center in Delaware until the roof collapsed from a bad snow storm. Then they outsourced outside of the U.S. after that. I wish I could have gone to Austin, but I could not get to the card the Dell guys gave me because of the roof collapse. Security refused to let me get it. I tried calling all phone numbers I could to get in contact with them, but absolutely no one knew how to reach them. :(
