For the record, all these spin-offs made the Yu-Gi-Oh world about card games, but in the original manga, Duel Monsters was just one of many games played, and the cast all had actual dreams beyond playing card games, like Tea wanting to become a dancer and Yugi wanting to design games. The only nutjob is Kaiba, which is actually why this video makes sense. lol

He scored in the lowest percentiles on the written exam 3. Jaiden decided to call Crowler the "school mascot" Granted, he didn't mean any of that intentionally, but he left a very bad first impression. Starting in the latter half of season 1, Jaiden makes a point to respect Crowler as a teacher, and Crowler, in turn, stops trying to expell Jaiden (he still occasionally calls him ""Slifer Slacker" or "Dropout Boy").

Actually, there are several instances in the anime where the students participate in sports like baseball and tennis. It's also confirmed that there are subjects that involve things other than dueling, like history or even Alchemy. Which makes sense since Duel academy is more of a high school than a college since you start when you're 15 and graduate at 18 similar to an actual high school in japan. So you could still go to an actual college and get a degree to fall back on.

As you can learn rituals to summon those spirits and force/invite them into cards, creating unique cards. And probably other things. Heck they used the card games energy to create a renewable energysource. I guess they chose Alchemy, because it's sounds less weird then witchcraft, even though Witchcraft would probably be more effective.

The absurd thing is that this is only in the dub version. In the original, the Duel Academy was basically a normal school, with some stuff dedicated to dueling (much like some athletics-themed schools in real life). But many could leave to work in other stuff, even if they didn't go to the Pro League.
