There's a lot of tricky parts in this design Tom. I'm not surprised that it gave you a run for your money. The answer is out there somewhere, so I'm guessing the inspiration will hit you in the shower on a random day and you'll get it sorted! Thanks for the shout out on the square. It's always fun to see them out in the wild helping to make cool stuff!!!

Thanks, Greg. This was a fabrication lesson for sure. Thanks for sending the square worked great, looks great!

I like your design but I believe your last shot at 57:41 shows the problem. Air leakage at the base of the chimney will reduce the draw of air for your fire essentially starving it for oxygen. I like the hinge design, but I think sealing that area somehow could improve the performance. Maybe a quick test with a suitable caulk to verify the hypothesis before major effort? Your fabrication skills are inspirational. Looking forward to your follow up video. Best wishes.

Thank you for the feedback, Roland. I might just eliminate the hinge and weld that corner. At this point it’s a testbed. :-)

Maybe longer chimney?

You could just tty that and make it a short too

Hello. My experience with similar rocketstoves is that the area in the firebox where the pellets are must be 80% or thereabouts. This is so that the draught goes through the pellets and not past. It has worked for me. Thanks for the great video!

Interesting design evolution Tom. The air gap at the chimney may be fine for secondary burn combustion while not adding to 5he overall grill heat. I think you are on the correct path and doubling the tube size will quadruple the air volume. Fire doesn’t seem to scale down as well as we assume. Look to the dimensions of Rocket King for your optimal firebox. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother

I love the design as you go method and have had a good time while ending up with something that didn't work.
