I love this version. It's simple, smooth (not overwhelming to the ears), and slower, but still fast enough to get my foot rockin.

10 years old . Still one of the best covers on youtube ❤️

I like this one best. The melody is clear. The notes clean. Sometimes musicality wins out over speed. I truly sat back and enjoyed listening to this as much as you enjoyed playing it. Thanks.
@ayokay1236 жыл бұрын
Try it at 1.25 speed. You'll like it even more because it's closer to the original.
@OscarVargas3 жыл бұрын
@@ayokay123 the best thing about this version is that it's not that fast. I like this one better.
@Knappist3 жыл бұрын
Spot on speed for speeds sake, can ruin a good tune, Mean Mary plays fast but you can hear every note
@Senpatientulo13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, great tune. I do love the "speed" it is played in. You don't have to break speed records. Could hear it again and again.
@ImmortalDragon2111 жыл бұрын
there is something unexplainably wonderful about the sound of a banjo. It always puts a rhythm in my soul.
@rallyx9009 жыл бұрын
The speed is great, I play a lot of folk and bluegrass and if one thing is for certain it's that smooth detail always wins over a fast mess.
@lastplacewin12 жыл бұрын
This is really good. It's nice to hear it slowed down and in much crisper quality than in the Deliverance scene, but something about the speed and urgency in the movie makes it "that" much more special.

from someone just learning, thanks for making this both perfect and slow enough to get something from! Nice sounding guitar, too.
@nedluberecki12 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. This is a play along. It was shot as part of a guitar lesson teaching the guitar part to Dueling Banjos at the site guitar tricks dot com. It was played slowly so that beginning students could play along with it.

If you had read the description, this was filmed for a guitar lesson website and is meant as a play-along for a beginning guitarist to learn to play the song. That's the reason it's not faster.

Love the speed you played at. As a banjo player I truly appreciate hearing the instrument slowed down from where people usually try to play it at. I feel like the instrument really shines out and lets you hear exactly everything that's going on crystal clear. Perfect speed, same speed I like to play my version at.
@pedrobettt8 жыл бұрын
+lVlittens The best part about the banjo is how the notes mix when playing at high speed. There's no point in going slow, it just ruins the entire skill.
@nedluberecki8 жыл бұрын
+Cheeseless Actually, the point in going slow is so that a beginning player who is just learning the song can play along. That was the purpose of this video. I thought that I had explained this in the description.
@lVlittens8 жыл бұрын
Cheeseless I don't believe you understand what the instrument is. Playing fast isn't the point. The point is to generate a sound with melody to create a enjoyable experience for active listeners whether it be only yourself or a multitude. The best part of the banjo is the tone color it generates, not the tempo a player can play at. When regarding higher tempos you are looking at the higher possibility of cramps, mistakes, and the notes blending to well that the melody isn't distinguishable.
@pedrobettt8 жыл бұрын
Ned Luberecki No, I get your video's purpose, and it's actually very important and useful. I meant for performance purposes.
@pedrobettt8 жыл бұрын
lVlittens I agree that it's not the tempo itself, but without the mixing resonances it just sounds too metallic.

I know some amazing Pickers that are helping me and I hope that by next year at the annual gathering I'll have enough practice in that I can join in on some of the Jams that gather around at the Festival. Great Video, thank you.
