I was stationed in Virginia Beach VA 91-95, was deployed at sea over half the time but when I was back at NAS Oceana I was out every weekend visiting as many historical sites as was possible. Virginia has a very rich history going back to the very early colonization to modern times.

Mike thanks for sharing. Awesome scenery with fascinating living history. At the end , hearing the women and children screening and running, while the native raiders started their assault made the hair on my neck stand up. I know that the Cherokee were defending their land. But it was all I could do to keep from grabbing my fusil and defend the fort!!

An excellent video, I like the clip on Quill Pen making, using, of course a Penknife , and the very good description of the Silkmoth Bombyx mori in the carding demonstration, Many thanks for posting this one Mike, I look forward to part II.

This is quite interesting to me as my relatives (Martin) are all from southwest Virginia and fought in the Revolutionary War as well as the Civil War following. I did not know about this particular living history fort. Thanks for this informative presentation!

That isn't him, but James and his son were there. I had a nice chat with them in their camp, and I ran into them filming later when I visited my friend Mike Miller, the station gunsmith.

I love the history, but the fake combat is just too much. Also, all the females pictured where wearing bras. Not period correct!

The tourists love the battles. The bra thing , who cares. Also a lot of ladies wear stays, keeps them mushed
