mikanko is still somewhat difficult to deal with even if you see it coming, especially if you're against someone who really knows what they're doing... a lot of glue-huffers in the chat saying it's a dumbass deck or it's toxic, but yugioh very badly needs a deck that can go second, i just hope konami can actually make cards that are actually good going second without relying on an OTK cheese strat

I would say the only toxic part about the deck is the lava golem/kaiju but in purrely meta it’s needed. Also the double edge spell card they play that makes it WAY to easy to otk is bullshit. If that card was banned I think mikanko would be a fair go second deck.

If the guy going first is allowed to build a board with 5+ interruption/negates with a bullshit tower monster like expurrely noir, he's not allowed to cry over getting kaiju'd, the guy going second needs all the tools he can get to break it, it's like crying over getting hand trapped, such a weird thing to complain about. And I used to play marincess alot, it's frustrating that my 1 bullshit tower monster is a Kaiju and I'm getting OTK'd but I won't cry about it, I find a way to stop them

Like maybe a card you can activate after your opponent interrupts you by like the 3rd time on your turn as long as it's not the first turn and it will have a devastating effect like maybe it'll turn off their front and back row and GY, I dunno

The main goal of going 2nd is to OTK your opponent. That s modern YGO , to kill or be killed unless you'rre a control deck. Imagine missing lethal at purrely and when they added +9 on your turn. Or getting your board wiped by Mirrorjade cause you missed lethal

I'm a pure live twin main, so when I saw your deck for the first time in the tourney, I thought you were representing us, but then I saw you were playing a bunch of other stuff and got a bit disappointed, but then I got seriously impressed with the cards you were using and your plays! Your plays shocked me so many times! So many times during your duels I was shouting "senpai is cooking fr!" Great work getting so far in the tourney with such an interesting deck! I would like to play it too, but I really like consistency decks lol

I just like to push the limits as to what you can play in twins and I like to play the gamba the deck provides. The highs are high and the lows are low so not a deck for everyone and even after playing the deck for 2 months I still missplay lol

I don’t get the fascination with Mikanko. It’s a trash gimmick made viable by Konami going crazy with targeting protection. Yet another deck that only thrives by taking advantage of the fact Yugioh cards were never balanced for a Bo1 play-environment. Same deal as Purrely, really. Facing proper side-decking in every Game 2 &3 would be the end of both decks in a Bo3 Ranked.

one of the best decks for Bo1, imagine Spright summons so many monsters just to get kaijued and otk the next turn... or even if not got kaijued they will end with Avramax, also got OTK by 3 Mikanko...we need deck like Mikanko to keep spright players and their counterparts in check... everyone in MD wants to go first until they face Mikanko.

@@keroro2187 Except they don’t hold anything in check. Everyone’s now playing something w/ the room for 2 Nibs and 3 Kaijus, or Lava Golems. Hell, I’ve actually run into 3 Sphere-Modes out of my last 10 games. What Mikanko and Purrely actually do is suppress the playing of *everything* that *doesn’t* have room for outs to Noir and Mikanko. Meanwhile, Runick-Naturia has tons of room. Runick-Fur Hire doesn’t have as much, but still enough…and everyone has to deal with the consequences of *everyone* running Nib and Kaijus/Lava Golems. Another big problem that Purrely and Mikanko highlight in our Bo1 format is the relative lack of Backrow Hate, when compared to there being so many decks that can keep recurring Spells from the GY or searching them. If this were the TCG, you could sidedeck in stuff like Anti-Spell etc. As things stand? Ever Feather Dustered a Lab deck, only to see *everything* you just flushed back on the next turn? If Komoney lets Ariseheart into play, I’m just going back to collecting dailies, mining Event gems, and collecting Logon/Spectate, because that will suppress all the GY-use like Exo Sisters could only dream of doing. Everyone complains about Combo Decks being Yugioh Solitaire, but putting Targeting protection or Unaffected on everything is just a different kind of 1-player Yugioh. Double Edged Sword should be Banned on the avowed design principle of a card being only and solely used in a manner for which it was never intended.

If DES was actually like an old old card I'd agree with you. But there is no reason to ban a card from 2020 simply because of a "you still take the damage" meme.

@@Altares_V DES was never designed with the idea that self-damage effect would be *multiplied* by one additional card out of several in a not-yet-printed-or-planned Archetype capable of doing the multiplying. In the context of a Deck that can search for all its targeting-and-destruction-protection, then apply said protections on the same first turn for the deck during which it sets up an OTK (Which it can also search for reliably), it’s terrible design for what’s espoused to be a 2-player CCG. Saying that it’s OK for Mikanko to do it means that nothing should ever be/have been Limited or Banned for setting up super-consistent, difficult to prevent OTKs. Edit: Again, Bo1 changes things dramatically. It’s damned difficult to try and main deck outs to every shitty control deck being played, and the rules should reflect that reality.

Now that I think about it, decks that generate unaffected monsters easily like Purrely is unfair, because the fastest way to deal with them, Kaiju, counts one summon for Nibiru. A lot of decks that have negate on 5th summon to counter Nibiru now lose to Nibiru because they have to Kaiju. Having cards like Beetrooper Hercules would make better design, he is only unaffected for 2 turns.

I wish Konami wouldnt hit old decks just to force you to use new decks. Ofc Branded loses with Expulsion banned, Gimmick puppet banned, Branded Fusion at 1 and Aluber at 2 while Purrly is completly unhit.

I really don’t understand the amount of purrely players not using expurrely happiness for lethal. Every time I see almost everyone go into noir and keep it a grind game when you could have already won. Now I can understand if they are afraid of nib but a lot of times the opponent has no more hand and I still see it. Maybe people just don’t understand what it does? I really don’t know Edit: never mind I guess the answer most of the time is that people just aren’t playing it which I don’t get either. No it doesn’t come up as often but it comes often enough to be worth using in my experience

I mean yes and no? Whilst the Tear mirror was very fun to watch and really skillful the problem with tear is that it is the strongest deck in the history of yugioh and power crept everything else out of existence. While on the other hand purrely mirror is just boring and really unfun to watch(Zeus and Noir turbo ngl) But purrely has outs and are susceptible to handtraps which means to meta can be diverse and allow for other decks to thrive(as show in this tournament with mikanko D-Link Live Twin and branded all being viable) So it think it just depends on your preference

One thing this tournament showcased is how utterly trash this current meta is. OTK mikanko garbage running rampant because of purrley. Brainless Kajius everywhere. Arise heart around the corner, honestly this format is a continuation of the frustration we just had to suffer through in tearlaments.

bruh, I rather diversity than tear 0 meta Noir is not unbeatable and mikanko struggles going first(although as show in this tournament it isn't the end of the world for them). Although I agree the format is gonna go to SHIT once arise heart gets added. Shame to this was one of the better formats we've had 😞

This game is garbage, you can summon an entire field and go through half your deck on turn one. This game has been updated for Pre-Schoolers, it's boring and lazy now. There's no effort in summoning anymore. You shouldn't be allowed to use more than five cards on turn one. It makes this game so unfair that a person can literally go through their entire deck on just turn one. That leaves the second turn player in a seriously unfair position even before he's had an opportunity to play. This game is garbage now. They need to revamp this game. There's no fun in it if both sides don't stand an equal chance at winning. Second player is stuck with his first hand and it's purely luck what he gets meanwhile his opponent has set up their entire field on just turn one like how the fuk is that fair. This game goes down the toilet two thumbs down 👎🏾👎🏿
