​@@valley_robot Lap steels can have intonation problems... I have a Peavey Powerslide that I bought for 300, and it drives me nuts... :( Ordered the Fairytale instead.

@@Raggo12345 Great steel guitar players use the bar to get around "intonation". It started in Hawaii in the 19th century and it is still practiced by the great players. Jerry Byrd and Sol Hooppi was THE greatest when it comes to intonation.

In all likelihood, it is: (LO to HI) D A D F# A D. The benders are on strings 2 and 3. Thus: string 2 raises A to B; and string 3 raises F# to G. This is how the guitar comes from Duesenberg factory. The model name is: "Fairytale". Hope this helps kind Sir.

It's hard to find examples of lap steel that aren't "Sleepwalk" or other 50's hits. I like that music, but the lap steel just seems like it has so many more possibilities.

There is some debate about "Intonation" on this channel; when it comes to Steel Guitars. Here are the facts: Unlike a standard guitar, SG's do not have any frets that are used; other than looking at them. Because of that, the bar (some call it "slide") becomes the intonation problem corrector; using the hands and fingers on the left and. Note: The 2 reasons that standard guitars needs intonational correction, is because: 1. The note is made by PUSHING the string down on the fretboard. This causes the string to go sharp; with respect to the other strings. IE: when your fingers fret on different frets at the same time; it can cause very serious intonation differently between strings. 2. The gauge of a string's intonation is changed differently between strings. This is why MANY (non- corrected intonation guitar's) bridges are slanted. This is to correct from gauge intonational problems. NON of this matters on a steel guitar; because there are no real frets; AND...the bar can be slanted (as that bridge does above) to correct the problem. This is why Duesenberg uses an intonational corrector Multibender for regular guitar's; and a non-intonational corrector Multibender for steel guitars. Check it out.
