We recently did Mortal Kombat and thought it would be fun to also do Street Fighter, this movie is not perfect in anyway but it's bad that it's actually pretty damn good and we laughed so much!

Alongside Akira and a random hentai mislabeled as a children's film.

Say whatever you want but this movie, when it came out, for kids like me, playing Super Nintendo and, of course, Street Fighter 2 game (not even heard of Mortal Kombat during that period of time), was not only great, it was perfect. Today, yes, we can say, there are too many charecters, but then it was incredible to see all the characters we knew and loved (we actully didn't even know who Kami was, we played SF2 The World Warrior, and she was not in it). For a 10 year old kid this movie has everything - story, action, famous actors playing famous characters, explosions, jokes, good guys defeating bad guys, everyhing. Now, of course, a 40-year-old grown up man can't even call this a movie, it's not-that-high-budget B-movie with ridiculous plot, some miscasting, stupid dialogs and questionable action, but that 10-year-old kid inside him will always defend this great film and never forget what any videogame based movies ment for us back in early 90s. So Super Mario Bros the Movie, Street Fighter and, later, Mortal kombat, would always be masterpieces for which we always remain greatful and thankful. We had 'em and we loved 'em. Thanks for the childhood. Dont judge too much.

Yup, this movie's all over the place. I think it was a good call going for a fun tone. But they included like 16 characters and didn't even center the film around a tournament to explain why they are all in the same place. So they had to shoehorn them and their in game appearances into a war/James Bond movie. They do get them into their game looks in clever ways and they range from pretty damn spot on (Zangief, Vega) to passable (Bison, Guile, Ryu) to downright laughable (Blanka, Dhalsim, T-Hawk). I personally feel there's a bit of cheesy fun to be had with it. Raul Julia carried the movie even while dying of cancer at the time. It's worth a watch just for him I'd say. It doesn't help that this movie was absolutely blown out of the water by Mortal Kombat a year later, which managed to pack it's movie full of kick ass fights, music, visual style and much truer faithfulness to the story and characters of the game.

I think he was supposed to originally be in this movie, but they had to make some cuts due to certain circumstances I'm guessing because of Raul, Julia's passing being one of them From one liners to good special effects, this movie needs to make a comeback, the Chun-Li one was all right but both needed more. 25:26 if anyone didn't notice that is actually the control panel for the STREET FIGHTER arcade game

Oh my gosh I grew up to LOVING Street Fighter. Played the game so much. Blanka was my favorite player. I use to have a Ryu and a Col. Guile action figures. Oh course me being a child I didn’t know any better so they became my Barbie’s boyfriends 😂

Jean Claude Van Damme was high on cocaine while making this movie, knowing that this would be a terrible film he had made.

He and Kylie were on a non-stop fuckfest at the time as well, so she was more than likely partaking in the nose candy too. Which had to be straight insanity. You have Julia giving a great, over-the-top performance, Wes Studi playing a Thai fighter, a bunch of unknowns trying to sell it (Zangief's Bryniarski as an example), and your lead is in a cocaine-fueled riptide with one of the supporting actresses. Honestly surprised this one even made it to film, but it definitely turned into something crazy and unique.

Raul Julia was in constant pain filming this from cancer. Yet he still showed up and brought his A game, saving this terrible film

I'm sure it's already been said, but Street Fighter the Animated Movie is absolutely worth a watch. For me, it's the pinnacle of Street Fighter.

That painting of a clown with the Bison hat is actually a reference to John Wayne Gacy’s the serial killer’s clown painting. This movie also released just a few months after Gacy was executed.

The fact they keep pronouncing Ryu as "Ra-yoo" in the movie is a bit more upsetting to me than Damian Chapa as Ken Masters. Also, a Belgian actor playing an American character (complete with a heavy accent) will never not be funny (Mad respect for Raul Julia still pulling a great performance while also battling against his cancer too)

This Movie is really Cheesy but I love it. when this Came out My Birthday wish was for Me and 3 Friends to go see this in the Theater. it's not a Good Movie but it's definitely in the So Bad it's Good. Raul Julia was the Perfect M Bison. He Studied Real Life Dictators for this Role. He did everything He could have possibly done to make sure He Nailed this role. He was Great. Jean Claude Van Damme was on so Much Cocaine during this Movie. The Guy they wanted to Play Ryu originally Spoke English so Poorly that they had to Replace him.

Speaking of great cheesy martial arts films, Jackie Chan's "City Hunter" from 1993 fits into that perfectly. Not sure about the English dub though.
