700,000 people working in law enforcement in this country. Imagine if they have just a single encounter with someone each day. That is over 250 million encounters with people each year. It's basically inevitable that things like this will happen. It's just that before video cameras being everywhere it was all hidden away and covered up, people didn't have evidence to base their lawsuits on, and the police are considered expert witnesses so their testimony is given more weight than the typical person when in court. When this happens they need to be held accountable, that is the only way we get better. But what is really disturbing is when you realize that you weren't really lied to when you were told things like this only happen in other countries. The facts were just distorted, what really should have been said, and the truth, is that this type of thing happens more in other countries than it does in the US. I know far too many people from other countries that are shocked that our police aren't more tyrannical, because their police are even worse, it's just that they see our police on the news more. In other countries it's not uncommon for things like this to be censored by the government, for there to be no evidence and video, etc. That being said, we shouldn't ignore that this does happen in our country. I think the most disturbing part of this video is when the officers tell him that he is talking so he can breath. That is not true at all, every police officer should know that the amount of air it takes to talk is far less than the air that needs to go in and out of someone's lungs for them to get enough oxygen to live. It's why so many people die from positional asphyxiation. There have been notices and training in many police departments about this. And yet some departments and officers still seem ignorant. It's bad enough that they even have many citizens believing that if someone can talk they can breath. The solution I can think of when someone says they can breath isn't to tell them that they are lying and can breath because they are talking. It's to move their position so that they can breath and/or get off of them. If they continue to claim they can't breath and the officer thinks they are lying it's not that hard to test if they are faking or maybe they have a punctured lung, broken ribs, broke neck, etc. Just inform them that you can call an ambulance and take them to a hospital where it can be confirmed if they really are hurt, but if they aren't hurt they will be charged with passively resisting arrest and will have a large amount of medical bills. It's a ten-fifteen second explanation instead of minutes of an officer thinking someone if faking because they are talking. If they insist on an ambulance then call one, if they can't respond then call one, but if they are faking they probably don't want to get charged with resisting arrest and pay medical bills. Maybe it's even possible to call the ambulance first, then inform the person in custody that you think they may be faking, and if they are these are the consequences and it's not too late to cancel the ambulance. Either way the solution isn't to drag the person around like a bag of potatoes and make their injuries worse, or just assume they are faking and not get them any medical help.

Everyone always says this and that needs to happen but it 's meaningless and then next week you get another video like this, cops get qualified immunity and the victim, if lucky gets some chump change that doesn't even come from those responsible. It's funny cause I remember learning about the first ever code of law from ancient Babylon, thousands of years ago and while it had some weird laws, at least to modern people, I still remember the one about people in power, like judges and law enforcement there that if they are ever found acting against the law, they have to compensate for all damages from their own pocket and are forever barred from being in any position of power again. Really wish they had kept that one.

Yeah, it's as infuriating as it is awe inspiringly stupid. Imagine a life guard saying that to a drowning man. "Help I can't breathe!!!!" "If you're capable of using the small amount of energy you have left to scream for help, before going under for good, then you can breathe!!!". Yeah, they have a gasp of air that very well be their last, and instead of just hoping the psychopaths squeezing the air out his lungs, suddenly get bored and stop before it's too late, they chose to plead with it. Just like every sane person would. And it's crazy grown men, with supposed training, can't grasp this. And people are dying every day like this, and so many of these animals just don't care. Hell, at this point, it should be written on the side of their cars instead of "protect and serve", "if you can scream for help, you can breathe". I feel so sorry for this guy, host of the channel is absolutely correct, that's just not enough to make up for what they did to him. I don't think any amount of money is. And actual justice seems off the table since his attackers are cops.

Wheezing out "I can't breathe" and talking are 2 very different things. I don't care if every single time a cop deals with a person physically they say that and are lying 99.99% of the time, they should be forced to take it seriously and make an attempt to relieve pressure on the chest and head. Too bad if it makes doing they job tougher, find another job if you can't deal with it.

Hospitals are good for not helping when you are seriously hurt but aren't physically showing it. I broke my back 13 ish years ago. I walked into the er in excruciating pain. They literally made me sit for over 3 hours to get in a room. I'm telling something isn't right and the nurses just laugh at me and make jokes. They accused me of trying to get pain meds and I was a drug addict. Finally they gave me a CT scan and found my fractured L1 vertebrae. It was quite the crap show and no accountability for their attitude. 850k later I was all fixed up and magically my bill disappeared. Never paid a dime for it.

As a Former EMT, I can tell you that messing with any fracture of the neck, or anywhere in the Cervical Area of the Spine, can cause the victim to become permanently paralyzed, or, if the fracture is severe enough, it could also sever the spinal cord itself, and if the Spinal Cord is completely severed anywhere within the Cervical Area, it results in instant death to the victim. This is why when EMS treated anyone involved in any kind of accident which could possibly result in any kind of spinal, or cervical injury, the victim was never moved in any way without first being placed on a backboard, and having a Cervical Collar applied.

As a physician assistant currently and a former medic in the Air Force, this is absolutely disgusting. When I was a medic I forced a doctor to put a back and neck brace on a patient due to the mode of the injury, another time I forced a bunch of medics in the field to do the same once again as I saw what happened, and again as a medic in a hospital I took a patient down from standing to the backboard once again because of what they said. ALL 3 OF THESE PATIENTS HAD SEVERE NECK AND BACK FRACTURES AND I COULD HAVE KILLED THEM IF I HAD NOT STOOD MY GROUND AND FOLLOWED THE EXCELLENT TRAINING I HAD. This video showsed all violated basic first aid and all the way up to the doctors so not one of these people has an excuse and shouldn't be working in any of these positions ever. He is going to suffer a hard life because of these fools, and they all need to be held to account not just to pay money. The standard of care is clear, and they all violated their duty and failed a fellow human.I hope they repent before they meet God as this will weigh as a heaven debt against all their souls. I pray this man gets a mirical and finds a blessing in rapid time, and his suffering is relieved.

I laughed and told them...my authority dictates the policy and I had them escorted OUT! They have NO business in my room unless I REQUIRE them to be. Yeah...a cop is in authority UNTIL a doctor or nurse gets involved. Just LOOK at that cop with his hands all over the place. If I were the MRI technician I would have ordered the cop to keep his hand to himself and had him to leave. This technician is about as ignorant as the cop. I guess she doesn't that when she assumed the care of that man...she also assumed responsibility over all the hands that touch him.
