This is Martin Lockett. I was released on June 28th, 2021. I have begun reaching out to make contact with DUI Victim Impact panels in Oregon and neighboring states and will begin speaking in August. I want to thank everyone who has viewed my video, commented, and most important thought twice about drinking and driving. We owe it to ourselves and those around us to do what we can to save lives and create a safer world by speaking out and taking action against drinking and driving. Thank you!

Hello Martin, I am an addictions counselor and I just showed your video to my group, they were impacted by your speech as many of them are in group for DUI and other various offenses, I pray that God will God will continue to show you favor. Continue to speak to anyone and everyone that is willing to listen. It is a powerful story that can and will change minds. My group is mostly made up of men, and they shed some tears tonight. Thank you for being transparent. God bless

@@valeriewilliams4192 Wow! I am deeply humbled by this revelation, Valerie. Thank you so much for sharing. I am continuing to do God’s work to the best of my ability as I speak remotely and in-person now. I appreciate you finding my story worthy enough to show to your class, and I pray those men will remember what happened to all involved in my case as they move forward with their lives.

@@martinlockett2464 Many of them were humbled by your story, said you were one of the strongest men they've seen during their journey of recovery and redemption. Don't stop, God has turned your tragedy into a testimony for others. Continue to go back and get someone else! You spoke from a place where men often cannot for fear of being called weak or soft, you spoke from your heart with sincerity. That's powerful and life changing. God has forgiven you, forgive yourself and keep moving forward. Be at peace and not in pieces

Martin... Your video is so touching. I cried thru the whole thing. I saw it in an online program that is required for convicted offenders. I was invited as a guest by one of the speakers (my neighbor), who has traumatic brain injury after a crash caused by a drunk driver many years ago. Its been devastating to her life and has cost her over a million dollars in medical bills and surgeries. THANK YOU for sharing your story and spreading love and inspiring responsibility.

Thank you for sharing. I got a DUI and have never drank again because I’m so lucky I didn’t hurt anyone. You spoke at Trauma Nurses Talk Tough tonight and I work there, they said your name and I said i wanted to hear your story because I read a book and it sounded like I had heard it! So glad I found one of your talks and I love that you did it in prison and continue the important work. Purpose.

Thank you so much, Mr. Lockett for sharing your story. By your sharing and caring, hopefully many lives will be saved. I know some of the feelings that you have conveyed and it is very much my story too and no doubt, countless others. If only everyone would watch this video and never drink again, what a wonderful world that would be but, we live in a real world where there’s a lot of pain and people trying to mask their feelings with substances. it is often hard to get through to others about a substance they feel is totally legal where you can buy as much as you want from the nearest liquor store. For my part, every morning I would wake up and since the liquor store didn’t open until 9 AM, I would go to the nearest grocery store where I can at least buy beer and wine beginning at 7 AM. One morning I remember standing outside the doors of a grocery store and it was a couple of minutes after seven and the doors were not unlocked and I became unhinged. my hands were always shaking with DTs. I actually had a job in this period of time so needless to say I would go into work all lit up. And when you’re drinking, it gives you away in so many tells not even counting that i reeked of alcohol. Not a good look in front of your coworkers. People began to distance themselves from me because they were watching in real time a train wreck happening. I say this with conviction because at the end of my decades long drinking debacles that was the schedule I had every morning. My second DUI happened in 2018. I was involved in a crash that was completely my fault. Apparently, I hit someone, left the scene of the accident, and had open containers of tequila in my car. I cannot tell you about the accident at all because there simply is no memory of it. Just like in the movies I came to around 2 AM in jail in a green jumpsuit. I remember nothing of being arrested brought to jail had my clothes changed and then I finally woke up and I can tell you when I woke up, I was in a complete panic. I had a horrible feeling I had never ever felt before. I was full of shame and self loathing. I didn’t want to be around me. When my charges were given to me on a sheet of paper by an officer at the jail, there were four charges, and they were all serious. Yet again, no recall whatsoever. That is a feeling that I never ever ever want to feel again. And since I have the power to not take that first drink, I vowed to myself, I will never feel like this again. I never knew what actually happened until one year later when the prosecutor was reading the unfortunate events of that night. The DUI crash happened on a road I never travel on. WHO WAS I? Also that was the second car I had totaled inside of three months and the car belonged to my dad - his prize possession Lexus that he only took out at Christmas time. He babied that car - it was 20 years old and still looked new. and yes, I know that’s just an object, but still even deeper was my guilt and shame. I went to treatment out of state for almost 4 months then I came home to face my legal troubles. The prosecutor wanted me to stay in jail for one year, but my attorney eventually got a four month jail time with three months suspended. I was scared to death to go to jail and I think everyone can relate to that, but when I was in there, just looking around all the very sad, sad faces and misery I had the sobering thought I did this to myself. Who would ever choose that for their life? after jail the judge allowed me to participate in the DUI Court program. so four months in treatment in Florida, 16 months of DUI Court, tons of AA meetings, which I gladly go today! I can tell you with peace and happiness I have been sober for the last six years. I now love waking up in the morning and living the way God meant for me to live. I never thought I was going to be free of alcohol but for today I am. One day at a time.

I had to watch this video at a victims impact panel because our speaker was out with Covid. It kept freezing and ultimately we never made it past your reference to the quote at the end of the article. Everyone laughed “are you at least going to tell us what the quote was” and we watched a few other videos instead. I went home and found the video myself, I had to know what the quote was and I wasn’t disappointed. It was incredibly moving. It made the whole story. The person they helped the most was you without even knowing. Keep helping other people! It’s working

I will always keep a special place in my heart that the Highest of the Highest MUST know and understand when it comes to the prayers we groan to say with our own words! Loved one, do not be downhearted because all the words we do groan to say has most defiantly already been known to our Grand Creator! Keep praying through this agonizing time. Especially, if you can learn his true name. I have something I would like to share with you. God's name. God's name is Jehovah. If you don't mind I would like to share a scripture that confirms this information. You are in my heartfelt prayers. Yes, Martin Lockett you have made such a difference in my life. It's time to grow up, and know that partying and getting validation from others being cool is a childish mindset. Driving is a privilege to complete responsibilities and achieve more in life. I hope everyone can not drive if they decide to consume toxins. If you give yourself at least 3-6 months and longer, you'll start to feel great without drinking nor smoking, along with cardio and weightlifting you'll achieve your best life. Work on trying not to have fatty-liver disease. Let's all get healthier and have clean intake. Grass-Fed, Pasture Raised, Organic intake. no lectins, no nightshade, and no auto-immune foods.
