Duke vs. Florida State Condensed Game | 2023 ACC Football

The #4 Seminoles continued their dominant run in 2023 as they defeated the #16 Blue Devils, 38-20. Florida State has their first 7-0 start to the season since 2014. Quarterback Jordan Travis had another fantastic game completing 27 of 36 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns, and also running for 62 yards and another score. Wide Receiver Johnny Wilson caught eight passes for 53 yards. For Duke, Riley Leonard started the game, but had to come out due to injury in the second half. Running back Jaquez Moore ran the ball 16 times for 110 yards and a touchdown.

It was a good run but Cypress took a terrible angle. #1 thing you learn as a corner starting in pop is you never get on the outside. Always force them back in. Hopefully he learned from it.

Leonard got hurt with like 4 minutes left in the 3rd.. he had 69 yards passing and I forgot how many rushing.. he wasn't really doing anything before he got hurt.. it was the rushing attack.. we are a second half team.. he wasn't doing anything before he got hurt.. plus they gave him that bogus ass penalty to help keep the drive alive when we sack him on 3rd down when he got hurt

Each of Duke's big runs including the first TD was a result of clear missed holding calls. Each play the player attempting to keep outside containment was being held...granted the player could have been in better position but 4 or 5 missed calls where the action was taking place is too many.

The rush up QB sneak is really not a good play for us. Our offense is so dynamic and you are essentially screaming what you are doing to the other team. Then the 4th and 1 run up the middle from shotgun was bad also. Travis has to keep that and run for first down. The game was much closer then it should have been but I’m glad we pulled away in the 4th.

Duke played a whale of a game against Florida State for about three quarters. In that 4th quarter the defense looked totally drained., hands on hips, and exhausted stares into the expanse of the field as they labored to the finish. And with Riley further injuring himself, it was just a bad look all the way around for the bluebloods. Duke's going into the next game extremely beat up and with little time to recover from this bad loss.
