Houston is a frequent preseason scrimmage partner for my alma mater, Duke, and for a good reason. Houston is a tough, tough team every year. I'm very sorry about Shead...a truly tragic loss at this time of year. Looking back over Duke's history, I can think of injuries that cost us shots at national titles too--Robert Brickey in the 1988 Final Four, Kyrie Irving all season in 2011, Zion Williamson most of the season in 2019... and I hated it so much. North Carolina lost Armando Bacot to injury with mere seconds to go in the national final in 2022, converting what would have been an almost certain layup for a 1-point lead into a turnover down 1. Also, I thought Kelvin Sampson showed enormous class in the postgame presser as well. When asked if he thought Houston would have won but for Shead's injury, he refused to answer...and that is EXACTLY the right answer. Everyone knows he thinks so, and even I think so, but he had the class to avoid saying it and possibly offending an opponent. I'll forever appreciate that.

Lies you tell. A 54 - 51 final score, where both teams shot under 41%, and had a combined 24 TOs is not the upper echelon of basketball. It's actually setting the sport back. The quality of play, coaching, and shot-making isn't remotely on the same level. 😂 The Knicks - Spurs regular season game, who are both far from being top teams, was better than anything the men's March Madness tourney has produced thus far and probably the rest of the way.

Man I have been pleasantly surprised by this duke teams ability to take it up a notch in the physicality and hustle. They've got the talent to win the title this year, but they better bring this fight sunday afternoon to the State game! They are the better team and should win. Other than UCONN, I don't think any of the remaining teams in the tourney are as good as Duke at their best. They bring it like they did tonight and they may just go all the way! they werent beaten badly, unc barely won at duke last game of the season and needed 32 points a career high from cormac ryan to do it, and kyle had 30 or 32 points vs nc state and they barely lost that game. i think duke can beat nc state this time. duke shot very poorly that game and only kyle played well that game in the acc tourney. keep in mind duke blewout nc state in the last game of the season for nc state at home on senior night.

Duke and Alabama have played the exact same tournament up til the elite 8. They both played a 13 seed in tbe 1st, they both played a 12 seed in the 2nd and of course Bama knocked off #1 seed unc while Duke took out #1 seed Houston. All the Duke haters keep talking about Duke having the easiest path every in this tournament (along with every other excuse) while Alabama has had the exact matching path! Those haters are so observant though. This Duke is very good just like they always are. All those haters talking about Duke underperforming every season when in fact this is Dukes 4th trip to the elite 8 in the last 6 tournaments, along with still owning the highest win percentage in tournament history. So just keep on hating because I promise Duke is gonna keep on winning year after year! Let's Go Devils 🏀🏆

Houston was manhandling Duke for the first 10 minutes and the refs let ‘em play. For some reason everything changed when Young went in. I feel so bad for Jamal Shead but to the doubters Duke was winning when he was in the game and lead at the half.

He's a game changer as the game goes on especially in crunch time, not the same team. With him he's a possible 30pts, 6-10 assists that's a big loss. Not a Houston fan btw, but did have them #1 in my bracket
