Dulens APO Mini 43mm T2.4 | DJI Ronin 4D 8K | Sunset Test Footage

Whats up yall!
I have been loving my Dulens cinema set, by far my favorite spherical lenses to shoot with to date! They work so seamlessly with the Ronin 4D 8K, and they have been quite impressive little lenses. In this video I am using the 43mm T2.4 in some low light situations. I am exited to continue to test out the set, the 31mm and 85mm videos will be coming soon!

I agree totally!! It was you that got me into purchasing my 58mm Dulens andI have been shooting my short film on the lens and it looks like a real REAL movie. Thanks for the tip brother and this footage is crazy good!! The 8k most def. has a higher HDR capacity. My pockets are already getting dry but nonetheless my Ronin 4D 6k is performing beyond expectations with this lens!!

These lenses need to get some more love, they punch WAY past their price point plus Jackson the creator behind the APO Mini Primes has been one of the coolest people to talk to and interact with as he really cares about the community and their feedback. That goes a long way! Also, I may or may not have the 21mm APO Mini & 50mm Triassic Prime prototypes 🤓 more videos coming soon! As for the 4D in general weather its the 6K or 8K its an unbeatable system in my eyes, after owning and learning it, its crazy to me that more people have not adopted it haha I know its a wild peace of technology and even I was skeptical in the start but MAN OH MAN am I happy I made the jump. Hey man, love your videos! Your work on the ronin 4D videos made me buy the camera. Everything has worked great so far, it’s just been the auto focus for manual lenses that keeps bugging me, the focus keeps getting stuck on noses and glasses on people, have you ever run into this issue?

Whats up Eric!! That means a ton, thank you!!🙏🏼 And I am pumped we have another one on the platform, the Ronin 4D is unde-rated IMO!! How many depth points are you adding when calibrating your lenses? I max mine out every time I forget exactly how many you can do but I used them all and the autofocus has been amazing! It can jump to their nose or glasses as it attacks the closest object, I would say stop down a bit in situations like that maybe like a 2.8+! (till they release something that can distinguish the different parts of the face) Hope this helps! Shawn

So far I have been on 2.8-4 in aperture, so It seems it will just grab the first thing on the face, I haven't seen other people run into this issue, so hopefully your advice of more depth points will work :) All the best, Eric

Thank you very much! The Athenas I have not shot with personally, but I have been on set with other cinematographers using them! They are really nice lenses, clean, small and fast! It really depends what your needs are though, either way you cant go wrong!🙏🏼🔥

It is much appreciated🙏🏼🔥 I LOVE the configuration, it has been one of the most unlocking camera systems I have ever got to put my hands on, especially as a solo op most of the time! Its allowing me to create more frequently with the ease of the all in one system, so haha 10/10 in my books. As for quirks, its not a perfect system at all, but overall its very refined and the more you shoot with it the more you understand how to navigate everything as well as have a harmony with it that allows the quirks to disappear which lets you focus on the shooting! Not sure if that helps! And the Lexus was an LS 430! Best, Shawn

Uhhff, Brother... I know some people say the 4D image looks "underwhelming" but man.... What codec did you use? Lowlight performance looks insane too, any denoising applied?

Whats up Phill! This was all captured in ProRes422HQ! And yes haha I hear all kinds of things about it, from my view, those are people that never actually used it and don't know how to grade. This camera is highly underrated IMO! Zero denoising was added to this🤙🏼
