Dul it's a lot more then a million. The casualty estimate I found was "In late July 1945, the War Department provided an estimate that the entire Downfall operations would cause between 1.7 to 4 million U.S. casualties, including 400-800,000 U.S. dead" but the joint chiefs told congress 500,000 casualties expected because they were afraid congress wouldn't approve the operation.

My sister got pissed at me. She did the old "the only reason we nuked Japan was to scare the Russians" Her college indoctrination had no come back when I said "so the estimated 2 million US casualties and 500,000 dead had nothing to do with it? One of them could have been Grandpa" @@briandstephmoore4910

Contrast that to the 400k that had been killed, for the nearly four years the US had been in the war. And the vast, vast majority of those casualties was from 44-45.

Did NOT have Wendigoon on my BINGO card of people to appear on The Fat Electrician's podcast.

You would probably need to break it up into a few videos, but you have GOT to check out Wendigoon's video on the 'Mystery Flesh Pit National Park'. It's nuts, one of my favorite of the lore/cryptid videos he's made, and the reddit for it gets even wilder.

I'd love to see Fat Electrician do a video on The Battle of Castle Itter.

I'm trying to get him to do a video on Witold Pilecki the Polish Cav officer that volunteered to go to Auschwitz and escaped a few years later. 🇵🇱Crazy story.

To invade japan a lot more that a million americans would die. The expected casualty count from invading japan was so high that to this day every purple heart given out post WW2 was made in preparation for the invadion of japan. Weve had wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea and more and we still javent used all those purple hearts.
