Thx for the stroll, after Chiang Mai, Dumaguete would be my second choice..a very nice waterfront area, almost any kind of food…and…all the signage is in English although my Thai is coming along fairly well 🙏🏻👍🏻✈️

Back in 2014 I had originally planned to move to Chiang Mai Norris. The language issue motivated me to search further and I found the Philippines. I don't "hear" sounds clearly so it is difficult for me to reproduce and learn languages but I continue to try.

Hi Rod, thanks a lot. I live in Valencia just west of Duma. I love it there and it's way cool in every sense of the word :) but you have to go to Duma for anything beyond basic market food needs, restaurant variety, malls or real entertainment. Retired here from Sacramento, California last February. Hope to meet you and toast a medicinal drink or two,

Thanks Jeffrey. We drove up to a waterfalls and Forest Camp for the day and really enjoyed it. We also drove around Valencia a bit so got a little idea of how it is laid out.

Dumaguete is an interesting city and worth the visit. Valencia up the mountain a bit is cooler and getting more popular also.

Unless it’s changed, Bogarts’ food was excellent. While in Dumaguete with my son, we ended up there most days. The owner told me he was a chef on one of those private super yachts back in 2010 and would be gone for a few months at a time. As to the Netherlands(Holland is a specific area in the Netherlands) lock systems is responsibility for 17% of their land mass and did tour some of the engineering marvels. As necessary is the mother of invention, the Netherlands supplies a huge amount of amazing technology and engineers to the world. If I had the money, retiring there would have been on my list along with Vienna despite the winters.

Thanks Rod, a great little walk around----I was waiting for Sans Rival, a great place to eat and has a great bakery around the corner---had to buy their famous Silvanas. It's a pity they dont have taxis or readily available vans to tour Valencia and the mountains and Dauin and the beaches

I find Dumaguete an interesting city and cleaner than Cebu City metro Michael. I think it is a bit too small for me long term though. Living in a smaller city/town would motivate me to travel more, so that would be a plus.

Great video of Dumaguete City locks a great place to visit and some beautiful places there loverly boardwalk and nice out of the way little restaurants to visit nice and clean .I love yellow cab pizza similar to the big shopping centre in Cebu. Rod I challenge my Filipino nieces to eat balut 🥚for 1000 peso each , 2 nieces ate , omg 😮 yes it didn’t look 👀 good to me . And yes they ate the beak as well.. I’ll give it a miss to .. lol 😂 just watching this video to Rod, notice the girls all seam to be putting on weight ,very rare to see slim girls . Definitely not a problem finding foods .

LOL! I have no motivation to eat balut Layne. I also have a bit of a sensitive stomach so risky for me. I think millions have put on weight over the last 2 years of "stay at home" travel restrictions. Definitely many less healthy heavier people in the world now thanks to the "experts".
