(Vader Voice) NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! But the more articulate response: There was one prequel where they hired lookalikes to play the main characters but low-key tried to mislead people in the marketing. I didn't see the sequel, but most of those who saw the movie that I talked with disliked it. If you're interested in seeing more Jeff Daniels, Terms of Endearment is a must-watch (warning: it's a tearjerker). He was also pretty good in the TV movie Gettysburg (the film takes liberty with some of the history, and is a touch Lost-Causey, but the movie has top-tier acting from a lot of top-tier actors).

I visited the house one time, and it scared the s**t out of me. My friend claimed the house was haunted, and said the family would hear footsteps in the attic and doors closing on their own. My friend also claimed that the family were descendants of Abraham Lincoln. My friend had a portrait of Abraham Lincoln in his bedroom, and the eyes would follow you as you walked. That was enough to convince me that something was deeply wrong with the house, and I never visited again. One and done. I remember being introduced to one of his older brothers; I'm pretty sure it was Charles. What a shame that Hollywood chewed him up and spat him out.

The best thing about this movie is Jeff Daniels. Jim Carrey had blown up at this point, but this was his first feature film where he shares the spotlight with someone else, and Jeff Daniels (who wasn’t know for comedy) keeps up with him the entire time, and never plays second fiddle. That said, the Big Gulp line was always my favorite, and from what I remember, it was completely improvised by Carrey. The Truman Show was Jim Carrey’s break-out drama role, and kind of blew a lot of peoples’ minds, both with its story, and Carrey’s performance. Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind is also worth a watch. I’m a little biased on that one, because I absolutely adore Kate Winslet, and think she and Jim Carrey had great chemistry, though it’s not really held in as high of a regard as The Truman Show these days. Since I brought up Kate Winslet, I’d recommend The Reader, Little Children, Iris, and Heavenly Creatures. The last of which came out the same year as Dumb and Dumber (1994 was an amazing year; we’re lucky to have grown up when we did), and was Peter Jackson’s first real foray into drama, after doing low budget body horror up until that point (and going on to do the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Get Back). This is completely random, but “The Reader” reminded me of “The Believer”, from 2001. It’s one of Ryan Gosling’s first dramatic roles, in which he plays a Jewish neo-nazi (based on a true story). It’s probably a little too heavy and political to watch on your channel, but I think it’s one of the best films ever made about modern antisemitism and Jewish identity. Oh yeah, and the best film of the aughts (just my opinion - but I’m correct in this instance) is Lost in Translation. You need to watch Lost in Translation.

So, as a fan of Jim Carrey's work when it was still new in the 90's, here's some fun facts you might not know that you do now: 1) First thing's first: Jim's chipped tooth is 100% real! He chipped his tooth as a child, and now wears a cap over it. 2) Jeff Daniels was told by his people NOT to make this movie, as they thought Jim would drag him down, and make him irrelevant. Jeff's key to success: "Let Jim be the dog and I'll be the leash." This movie made him a household name. 3) Back to the dog/leash metaphor, most of this movie is improvised, with Jim leading the way (the dog) and Jeff just following along (the leash). 4) The scenes of just Jeff were actually filmed first (including the toilet scene). 5) Jim wanted a serious actor to play Harry because he knew if it was another comedian, the movie would tank. 6) The Farrelly Brothers have directed other Jim Carrey hits such as "Me Myself & Irene" and "Dumb & Dumber To". I think they also directed him in "Fun with Dick & Jane" and "Yes Man."

when i saw this first with like 12, a friend and me didn't think, that the tongue would really stick to freezing metal like that... so we went out, chose a metal pole, right next to a busy street... and tried it simultaneously... i still have a scar on my tongue from ripping it off, and it really stretched quite a bit, like in the movie... yes, we saw dumb and dumber and went out to imitate what they did. (i have a degree in mathematics now... so it got better, i guess)

Great reaction, Jen. The sequel and prequel are both good fun as well. Yes, please do react to "The Mask", another winner from Jim Carey.

My sister and I would quote "His head fell off!" all the time LOL!! I think that slip at the bar was real. You could see Jim Carrey look down at the ground after LOL! Also, the car ride scene, that anger in the dude was genuine. He was really mad during that shoot, because they kept having to do it over and over.

Yes. The Monkees were a huge influence on the Beatles.

Hi Jen and happy Friday!! This is one of Jim Carrey's 3 BIG hits from 1994; Dumb and Dumber, The Mask, Ace Ventura. The year that made his career. Have fun and a great weekend!

The soundtrack for this movie is an alt-rock classic.

Jim Carrys best performances can be found in Man on the Moon, Eternal Sunshie of the Spotless Mind, Lemony Snickets and a Series of Unfortunate Events, and Kickass 2. Special mention - Earth Girls are Easy.
