If I had a nickel for every time JG9 post a dumb decisions video from one game, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
@thegoldfly12 күн бұрын
Even weirder was that game a couple weeks ago where he posted one video on BOTH teams.
@warrensmitchell2 күн бұрын
Brandon Staley did the exact same thing during the Chargers versus raiders game at the end of the 2021 season, and it was a scenario where both teams could’ve made the playoffs with a tie. That timeout allowed the Raiders to win on a field goal in overtime, and the Chargers got eliminated. I’m surprised that was never given a dumb decisions treatment.
@marcusmcgraw35192 күн бұрын
On top of that, the Chargers would have been the 6 seed regardless of whether they tied or won. The Raiders were the only one that had something to gain, as they would be the 5 seed with a win and the 7 seed with a tie. That was such an unnecessary move by Staley
@tylerhaley8682 күн бұрын
12:32 he does mention that. It’s not the same.
@marcus8132 күн бұрын
Payton definitely mismanaged his timeouts and paid for it, especially considering how much more the Bengals needed a win. With that said, claiming that he cost them a playoff spot is a bit much. Don't forget that his Broncos host a Chiefs side with nothing for which to play in Week 18 because the AFC's road to Super Bowl LIX is already going through Kansas City, Mo. anyway.
@LegendaryDorkKnight2 күн бұрын
An AF[C] West team screwing t[h]emselves out of a pl[a]yoff spot by not taking a tie and calling a timeout unnecessa[r]ily, givin[g] the opposing AFC t[e]am a shot at winning it? Whe[r]e have I heard that [s]tory before? Edit: Ah, I see you DID mention that game. Though, I'm not sure the Raiders WERE going to kick the FG. If they were, I feel they would have moved with a bit more urgency and not called consecutive runs while not in FG range. The timeout forced them to think about their next move because not ending the game there meant placing their faith in the Chargers who, by calling timeout, sowed doubt.

I think he called Timeout because of how they were driving the ball at that time if they scored the game was over, and obviously the defense needed to regroup. But to call two consecutive timeouts was pretty stupid. As a tie still wins them the game because they clinch a playoff birth.

Correct, the first timeout call was not dumb.

It'd be kinda funny if KC played their starters to spite Denver. Can you imagine if Cincinnati actually clinches?

The amazing thing I find about this scenario is that it directly involves three one-time AFL West teams: Denver and Kansas City (both still in the AFL West) and Cincinnati (originally in the AFL West). It’s one reason why I maintain that the merger wasn’t such a good idea.

It'll be a wild scene for sure if they force all these games to 4:30. It'll be a scramble fir the 7th seed while the Ravens and Steelers are still dueling in important games for the AFC North. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Pit vs Cincinnati and Cleveland vs Baltimore on Saturday.

@thomash.schwed36622 күн бұрын
Sean Payton himself debunked that during his postgame news conference, when he acknowledged the tie as his reason for settling for the extra point (instead of the two-point conversion) at the end of regulation. Of course, that makes his calling of both timeouts in overtime all the more inexplicable. The Bengals made him pay for that by scoring, not the field goal he was expecting, but the touchdown he was not expecting.
@anthony03582 күн бұрын
Do you think it’s possible Payton did not understand that if the bengals kicked a field goal on the 2nd possession that the game was over. Talk about a dumb decision

@@deadend1041 I mean they kind of did away with Sudden Death and made OT rules weird as shit. I mean now you have Regular season OT rules and Playoff OT rules(which the only difference should be tie vs no tie). So if you get a TD on your first possession in regular season it's over, but in playoffs both teams STILL get a possession.

There was another potential dumb decision by Sean Payton in OT. With just over two minutes left the broncos threw the ball on third and long and because it fell incomplete it stopped the clock North of the two minute warning and time wasn’t an issue for the Bengals when they got the ball back.
