*Somewhere in Denver on September 17, 2022* Nathaniel Hackett is sitting in his house, not really reviewing plays or strategies for the next day’s contest against the Texans. But he has something more important on his mind. Let’s take a peek inside the mind of a first-year head coach: Hackett’s Inner Monologue: Huh… I sure hope that JaguarGator9 has enough content for his KZbin channel this week. Maybe I should call another dumb play just to be sure. He sure is a talented football historian/commentator! In unrelated news, Denver-area torch and pitchfork sellers have reported a supply shortage as of Monday morning. No official word on the cause, but there were a fair number of people in Broncos jerseys cleaning out the stock.

Week 3: Has the offense play defense, defense play offense. Fantasy owners are pissed. Collinsworth for the first time ever has nothing to say. Lose to the 49ers, 45-0 Week 4: 3 times the Broncos are stuck inside their own 10. 3 times Hackett calls for the Broncos to take intentional safeties. Surprisingly, the strategy results in a Broncos 19-15 win Week 5: TNF at home against the Colts. Hackett having no concept of time doesn’t come up with a game plan until the night before. He ends up calling plays by drawing them out of a hat (punt on the very 1st offensive play of the game, going for it on 4th & a mile). Colts build up a 28-3 3rd quarter lead… which induces panic in Matt Ryan. The Broncos stage an on the field mutiny to where they defy the hat the remainder of the game and comeback to win 34-28 in overtime. Ryan has to be transported to a local Denver hospital for overnight observation due to being in complete catatonic shock

I've got a feeling that Hackett's problems arise from having to do things more Russell's way than having a coherent plan. Because they don't look good at the moment. It also kinda looks like Russell is telling Hackett what they're going to do. This being Rogers' former coach, maybe that's not surprising. He's probably used to it.

I don’t think that’s it personally. I think if they had it Wilson’s way we’d see more of a vertical attack something Russ probably does better than anyone in the league.
