i once “lubed” a switch with coconut oil to see what would happen. it sounded fine at first, but lost all functionality after about 30 minutes. fun fact: coconut oil hardens.

To people who are watching this video and considering this as a serious alternative: Don't actually use anything other than lube that is specifically meant for keyboards though, since olive oil can fuck with the plastic and metal of the spring, and it might start smelling bad after some time and vaseline literally corrodes plastics. So yeah. This is fun and all, but it's not a replacement to proper lube.

vaseline actually works long term on switches, provided u don't overlube. It's not recommended on stabilizers though.

I actually tried modding my horrible Razer Blackwidow stabs with vaseline and it worked great for a few weeks, until dust and debris built up then I was left with a half working space bar :( Also Vaseline doesn't last when exposed to air... but overall I did liked the feel of vaseline lubed stabs lmao

For those who are daring enough to try vaseline, don’t because vaseline actually corrode plastics as it is a petroleum jelly and will only sound good for a while and will “glue” your switches together. I know this due to first hand experience with lubing my backspace and stabs with vaseline and they were knocked out after a while.
