Braille Skateboarding: The Internet is Not Happy with Aaron Kyro

I have wondered one thing. How much of it was Aaron's choice WITHOUT the influence of Scientology, and how much of it was Scientology putting a gun to his head, and possibly his family, figuratively speaking? I never thought it was that simple that the others got screwed, but also if you look up the videos "I am a scientologist: Aaron, Skateboarder" and note the upload date compared to the very first video on Braille Skateboarding as well as the first tutorial video "HOW TO PUSH ON A SKATEBOARD THE EASIEST WAY TUTORIAL", the very first Braille video came first, the Scientology video came second, and then the first tutorial video came third. It could be pure coincidence, but could Braille Skateboarding have simply been a design and long term investment of Scientology from the very start, and the massive fallout was simply a result of "cashing in/out"? Remember, he had a low point in his life with his skateboarding career falling flat quickly... the perfect time to recruit and invest in someone. He may have always wanted to be friends to the others but never truly had the option if Scientology had him and possibly his family in a compromising scenario.. perhaps getting the others to leave and muting their input on the matter may have even saved them from a hidden hand?

It's possible. Lance was also a scientologist and they were the only two on the channel at the beginning. So either Aaron met Lance at scientology saw he was good with cameras and editing and said "we should make a KZbin channel." Or Scientology told them to make the channel. It doesn't really make sense to me though, because they never push scientology on the channel. They never even talk about it. From my understanding the deeper you get into scientology the more money you are expected to pay them. So I feel like Aaron just ended up getting sucked deeper and deeper into this cult and ended up feeling like he had to give them all of Braille's money. It's the sunk cost fallacy. The deeper in you get the more you're like "well, I've already payed this much. I can't leave now."

Also they wouldn't want you to talk about them on a skateboarding channel. If Braille Skateboarding really was a result of scientology's long-term investment, they would say "No mention of our group on your channel. Keep it strictly skateboarding and do as we ask you to and it will all be fine." It's in their best interest to literally NEVER mention them! We'll never know the full story, but it was the best guess I could come up with. It's all so tragic too because I actually enjoyed watching that channel :(

A sale of a shoe or board from braille doesn't negatively impact a core company, especially considering that those core companies were unlikely to sell to the audience braille is targeting (mainly young beginners.) Braille targeting this market might even help more core brands as new skaters get introduced to the scene, and quite literally outgrow their braille gear and move to more core brands. A kid might buy a braille complete board, but then buy reds for new bearings, new spitfire wheels, a new baker deck, etc.

They want to grab every corner of the market for themselves because consumer dollars are finite. Only part of this video I don’t necessarily agree with is comparing this company with other skate companies. Obviously I can see why with its tangible and intangible products, but I see this the same way I view other large KZbin channels. For instance, I care a lot about fashion/style, yet I wouldn’t even think about comparing popular KZbinr merch with a fashion company of similar scale. Of course there are some that have bridged that gap, but I doubt that many competitors would have sympathy or would lend a helping hand if the business was failing (they don’t even do that for companies they’re are “friends” with). But I guess that relates a lot more to whole new money vs old wealth discussion. To me, Braille is no different than a popular vlog channel that sells accompanying merch. In this case it just happens to be skateboards. And I know I can’t be the only person that feels that way since from even with early Braille, people from “traditional” roots in skateboarding didn’t like their approach to the sport. It’s almost a more extreme version of those who used to hate/still hate Nike, not necessarily for business practices, but more so because they didn’t start in skateboarding or didn’t do it a certain way. That aside, I appreciate the hard work that goes into these videos. I’m sure we’ve all seen large channels, which are just businesses at that point, fail due to either controversy, bad business, or simply the content getting boring; and this has all 3.

I could hardly agree with anything you said from 5:42-6:38. Should I not start my own company and attempt to flourish financially because I may get in the way of the profits of another company? Should I not reach for the sky with my company because I may step on the toes of another business that came before me? I don’t agree with that. Braile is (or was) it’s own entity with every right to be successful regardless of how downward another business is or isn’t spiraling.

Skateboarding industry isn’t like tech industry. Much smaller with fewer players. He might’ve avoided this current collapse if he was well connected/respected by people in the industry.

@@dumbdata34 his lack of connections and respect with skate companies didn’t have anything to do with his official downfall, in my opinion. His downfall came from allowing others to run braile for 3 years whilst he was out the picture and then proceeding to, allegedly, not pay them for their work because his contributions to scientology left his pockets empty. He then proceeded to block employees, destroy the braile house without allowing them to know, and trashed countless amounts of new skate gear that would’ve brought happiness to those in need. I don’t see how being cordial with core skate brands could have helped that.

Gabe Cruz's recent emergnece as a "Church of Scientology" beacon has worked out for him. The Church is pretty hopefully, and all that is needed is for the team to emerge.

I followed braille for the longest after I got out of a relationship and started skating again. I wanna say around the whole "fetty potter" stuff I unfollowed and they just kept getting worse and worse horrible to see nothings changed since then.
