I use quora and answer questions on the Sumerian language (as well as linguistics and ancient history in general), and even a highly niche field like Assyriology isn’t immune to these kinds of questions. (And not just the ridiculous ancient aliens-related ones). It doesn’t help that in the past couple years they’ve introduced AI-generated questions, many of which tend to include contradictory statements and/or incorrect suppositions. I’ve seen some constructed like “if we know that ancient Sumer had electricity, how were they able to burn oil?” Totally nonsensical.
