Dumbing Down of Indiana is Actually Happening Across America

Indiana is reimagining the requirements students will have to fulfill to earn a high school diploma. While more credits will be required, the expectations to earn the base high school diploma will be less rigorous than ever before.

On the one hand, employers are reporting that Gen Z graduates from top schools woefully lack the soft skills to be effective "workers," and on the other hand the two flag ship state universities in Indiana have gone on record to say the proposed Indiana HS core won't meet their admissions requirements.

Education around the globe is only getting more competitive. If Indiana or elsewhere in America is doing this to their students, I can't imagine how shallow students will become compared to millions around the world.

what is unc talking about? The average student is getting smarter and more advanced in math every year. Back in your day, a kid who took AP calc BC would be guaranteed to get into MIT, now many kids take post BC math and still get rejected

This isn't about top students. As he says, top students are motivated and will go far above the requirements anyways. It's about students who are just getting their GED or going to an unselective program (whether trade school or college) after HS.

The initial proposal was so bad that the President of Purdue and other universities in the state said that graduates would not be able to qualify for admission.
