Everyone's fixated on LLMs. Commodities. Building blocks. Small potatoes compared to what's coming in AI. Real-world applications: self-driving, automation, robotics, biology, physics, etc. For that we need serious compute. We also need more compute if we intend to reach AGI/ASI. In what world do the big players slow down? Also, NVDA's more than GPUs used for training. It's CUDA software. It's Omniverse. It's graphics. It's an unrivalled ecosystem. Hard to imagine they won't be vital to every major project and advancement in the foreseeable future

I am trying to avoid making any new buys at this point in other not to get sucked into a bear market trap. It's tough making money in stocks when institutional investors are the driving force behind the selling.. although I read an article of people that grossed profits up to $150k during this crash, what are the best stocks to buy now or put on a watchlist?

Invest in S&P 500 ETF, for as long as possible. Do it as often as you can. Try not to withdraw this money and let compounding do its work. Prioritize patience and a long-term perspective most importantly consider financial advisory for informed buying and selling decisions.

A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.

I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for financial advisors online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a recommendation?

Besides the initial shock. DeepSeek doesn’t change a thing to do with the demand or price of hardware. If the race is still for the most advanced AI, once everyone adapts the new technology it’s back to hardware. This is absolutely normal.

Dario Amodei just said in an interview that the current RL optimization’s are helping the models greatly, and do create downward pressures on the cost of enhancing the current models. But given RL will also create tons of synthetic data, model makers will have to go for those hundreds of thousands to million size clusters to make the next jump. So in the interim, these cost saving techniques are making up for the lack of compute, but there is no end in sight for the need of bigger and bigger pre-training runs to achieve the types of AI (AGI, ASI) everyone is vying for. Bullish NVDA

Why hasn’t anybody just started with the simple math? Even if deep seek is using only the 2000 H 800 that they said they have, the ones they are allowed to have, it would cost way more than $5 million. Each one of those GPUs in America cost between $20-$40,000. There are reports that the Chinese were paying $70,000 for each H 800. That would be between 40 million and $140 million just for the GPU. That’s if they only used the 2000 that they said they used. I don’t understand why people haven’t done the simple math. $5 million divided by 2000 GPUs is only $2500 per GPU. There are not any GPUs in the world that only cost $2500.

*Mathew Sharpe* Tesla has raised prices in many markets and they typically only do this to throttle demand. Record sales in China. The refreshed vehicles are selling very well with Tesla's newer, cheaper models coming out very soon. ( EV incentives in EU and China are back. ) ENERGY should more than make up for the loss in revenue from slightly lower auto sales for 2024.

Perplexity for search is the best on the market
@Will-be-free13 күн бұрын
I'm using it, but it's annoying. When you google something, then it sometimes doesn't find what you are looking for. When you search with perplexity, it will tell me that the thing I'm looking for doesn't exist, just because it can't find it. (I was searching for a quote by a politician, and perplexity claimed that she had never said anything like that, even though I know I've read it before.)

As the name implies Open AI was intended originally to be open technology for everyone and then they went into a for-profit model and got away from open source. China on the other hand kept up with open source and was able to make the AI they have better simply because the open source community was helping to refine the code. If that AI bubble gets burst it's only out of pure greed that it happened. I don't have much enthusiasm for the proposed AI infrastructure because that is only code for creating the infrastructure for a surveillance state. It all sounds good until you realize you don't have any control over that infrastructure and you will be under the all-seeing eye.

1:06:35 Honest question. If the majority of Tesla's valuation is based on FSD, then why does the stock never move more than 1% on bombshell announcements about FSD? Were you paying attention to the stock after Robotaxi Day? It went down a little bit.
@TeslaCiviliz8n13 күн бұрын
1:13:30 Every time Elon has mentioned priorizing FSD over vehicle profits, the stock has gone DOWN. It's been visible during earnings calls. You can also just hear it from Wall Street investors anyway. Before last year, they were not accounting for it at all. Now some of them are accounting for it a little bit.

Encoded in the large, highly evolved sensory and motor portions of the human brain is a billion years of experience about the nature of the world and how to survive in it. The deliberate process we call reasoning is, I believe, the thinnest veneer of human thought, effective only because it is supported by this much older and much more powerful, though usually unconscious, sensorimotor knowledge. We are all prodigious olympians in perceptual and motor areas, so good that we make the difficult look easy. Abstract thought, though, is a new trick, perhaps less than 100 thousand years old. We have not yet mastered it. It is not all that intrinsically difficult; it just seems so when we do it.[7] A compact way to express this argument would be: We should expect the difficulty of reverse-engineering any human skill to be roughly proportional to the amount of time that skill has been evolving in animals. The oldest human skills are largely unconscious and so appear to us to be effortless. Therefore, we should expect skills that appear effortless to be difficult to reverse-engineer, but skills that require effort may not necessarily be difficult to engineer at all

A closed economy / industry thru protectionism breeds complecancy n crushes innovation as well as creativity. On the other hand, an open mkt / industry with healthy competition drives innovation n made america #1 in the world esp for tech n inventions. that is what a laissez-faire economy is all about and which resulted in the America we have today. However if we continue to go down the current protectionism road and with the rest of the world retaliating, it will be a very different world

The monetization problems with software were there already before last week. I don't really see how that has changed. Yes, someone may have come up with a better way to run the software, but that doesn't mean that you wont get even better results if you run it on better hardware. Chat bots are not the end goal for anyone. Whatever nvidias customers are working towards, they just came a step closer to their goals. What's the reason these AI companies don't just empty their cash balances and buy all the chips all at once? Well maybe today's chips aren't strong enough to reach the goal and they may have to wait for next years hardware. If what you can make with current hardware has just been pushed forward a couple of years, then it would make sense for companies to buy more now rather than wait, because chances are much greater now that what you can buy now will be enough for a monetizable product. I'll bet anything that any serious contender in the AI space will invest heavily now, or they will be lagging far behind. If you can do more with the same hardware, it just speeds up the race.

they said they use 2000 of the H 800s. Each H 800 cost between 30 to 40,000 in America and there are reports that Chinese pay up to 70,000 for each one. That would cost between 40 to 140,000,000 just in GPUs. It’s really simple math. If they only spent 5 million that would mean each GPU only cost 2500.

JFC! This is all nonsense. If Deep seek can do as much of 5% the Datacenter, what will it do on 100K GPU's. MORE. What were doing right now isn't the goal. It's General AI and they are far away. So All this does is allow the big players to copy the good parts and use the innovation to their advantage. The moat was never the AI softwre, it was the Datacenters and what that power allows them to do in terms of training. The Chinese model used US AI's learning to train it. It didn't do it from scratch. As usual, the chinese copied and improved in some ways. The fficiency is just NOPT a game changer, except it does open AI to many more companies. So the big guys counting on the datacenter moat, like Open AI, may be hit big, but it shouldn't do shit to NVidia, becuase again, Deep Seek is Open source and if it does that well on less, imagine what it does with 20 times MORE!!!
